ABOUT THE POSITION
This position is responsible for the leadership, strategy development, execution and optimization of Logistics services and expenditures. This position will integrate closely with the businesses to foster a culture of executing on customer satisfaction, cost, quality, and efficiency improvements, and assure supplier performance to provide exceptional value to Astec. A key success factor is being able to clearly articulate the Logistic/supply chain vision and influence the organization. Value contribution will be a major contributor to the strategic goals of sourcing & supply chain and contribution to the company’s performance and bottom-line results.
Deliverables & Responsibilities
- Develop, communicate, and lead the strategic vision of Global Logistic procurement both inbound/outbound, while aligning with company strategies; including the roadmap/priorities and competencies needed to sustain and build out the future of the supply chain strategy and team.
- Develop key relationships with internal and external stakeholders to gain full alignment with category strategies and business objectives.
- Owner of the TMS transformation for the organization; including but not limited to the process ownership, adoption, efficiency capture, and change management.
- Benchmark leading best practices from inside and outside of Astec for implementation and adoption, including current process refinement.
- Experienced developer and contributor to building, implementing, standardizing, and enforcing procurement department policies and procedures.
- Provide direction and support to the logistics procurement process to ensure the proper due diligence and integration activities are complete prior to long-term master contracts.
- Develop and deploy methodology for logistics and supply chain metrics, TCO modeling, OTD, and KPI’s important/meaningful to the logistics function, and know what success looks like.
- Be a strong contributor to the budgeting process initially and throughout the year by comparing actual to budget and providing projections and run rates to management.
- Work closely with the Operational and Material Planning organizations to ensure alignment and effective execution of the agreed strategies.
- Research and understand the market conditions, advances in technology, supplier performance and economic forecasts. Keep Business informed regarding economic conditions, market conditions, lead times and shifts in pricing.
To be successful in this role, your experience and competencies are:
- BS or BA degree required and preferred in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field.
- ASCM or APICS certification as CSCP, CPIM, CLTD,ISM certification, CLA desired
- Knowledge and experience of Logistic processes and best practices
- Understanding of processes involved in Source to Pay, Procure to Pay; Experience in working with ERP, deployment of ERP
- Success in formulating strategic sourcing strategies, developing and maintaining effective relationships with key suppliers, and establishing effective processes and methods of ensuring satisfactory supplier performance
- Experience in identifying business opportunities that maximize profitability
- Experience in selecting, leading and ensuring desired outcome with external resource management.
- Experience in leading through influence without reliance on reporting lines and in a matrix organization.
- Demonstrated success in leveraging global spends across the enterprise
- Highly self-motivated to develop strategic, tactical and operational direction
- Ability to provide responsive support to business units and accomplish corporate initiatives.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate change management with colleagues and key contacts.
- Strong data analytical, financial and research capabilities, proven problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent and proven negotiation skills, master at spend segmentation, global and strategic category management, and risk management.
- Ability to read, understand and write legally binding contracts.
- 10+ years’ progressive experience in Logistics Sourcing &/or supply chain for large global/multinational, process driven companies, building and optimizing programs across diverse teams and cultures
- Strong leadership and Organizational skills
- Budgeting and people management skills a must
