Summary of Position
The Senior Facilities Assistant is responsible for supporting all other departments in the company as it relates to maintaining the safety and functionality of the workplace and building both inside and outside areas. The Senior facilities Assistant assesses situations, resolves the issue, and reports back to the facilities director. The Senior Facilities Assistant is responsible for ensuring that building issues are addressed, repaired, and resolved in a timely manner, keeping the building both safe and functional for all of the employees and tenants. This position has no direct reports. Duties may include supervising facility maintenance, organizing schedules, and implementing safety protocols. Strong organizational and leadership skills are typically required for this role.
- Knowledge of mechanical, HVAC, electrical and architectural systems, and ability to read and understand plans, drawings and specifications.
- Responsible and owns the process for obtaining building permits, developing construction plans, performing tasked once decided the best most cost-effective way forward.
- Assess, coordinate, constructs small renovations, and construction projects including the following:
- New walls, Installing doors, and Hardware and Acoustic ceilings
- Required to continue ongoing good relationships with outside vendors, businesses, building inspectors, and local police and fire chiefs (to obtain required permits and/or licenses)
- Review contract submittals, architectural drawings, and mechanical specs.
- Experience with mechanical and electrical construction background in all aspects of an occupied facility.
- Coordinate all facility repairs within budget and inspect quality of work prior to payment to vendors.
- Adapt to all technology and adhere to new policies and procedures.
- Work closely with the Director of Facilities and the Facilities Assistant to address any issues in a timely manner and decide if there are process and practices that need to be made after every issue is resolved.
- Partner with the Security Dept. to ensure Bldg. and surrounding grounds are safe. Responsible for making sure that all employees are safe and protected when the need arises.
- Required to have technical knowledge and know-how to understand, execute the required tasks of maintaining/operating the various systems of the building.
- Maintaining the budget is required in this order and follow the best process forward to ensure that continues to be the case is paramount in this role. Responsible for providing expert guidance on maintenance strategies, overseeing maintenance teams, and ensuring equipment reliability.
- Responsible for analyzing equipment performance, recommending improvements, and optimizing maintenance schedules.
- Strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to develop and implement effective maintenance plans are essential for success in this position.
- Covers for Director of Facilities in all capacities as needed.
Qualifications and Knowledge Requirements
Education: HS diploma & Associate Degree in Building TechnologyExperience: 7+ plus years of field experience required
Knowledge Requirements: PC skills, communication skills (in person/electronically/over the phone)
Certifications/Licensures: MA State Bldg. License required
