Form of workThis position provides technical team leading management services to the Operations and Services Group. Successful candidate should be very flexible and used to working in a fast paced union shop environment in a critical research setting. Duties include:
- Supervise the 25 in-house union maintenance staff, ensuring proper assignments for facility operation and productivity.
- Manage vendors performing maintenance and repair work to ensure coordination with in-house staff. Approximately $2M per year in external work.
- Manage day to day operations, touring of buildings, ordering supplies, instructing trades and addressing any corrective action, as needed.
- Review and confirmation of hourly paid union staff payroll hours worked as well as vacation/sick time, etc.
- Assign daily tasks to mechanics, follow up on work orders and schedule PM Assignments.
- Respond to emergencies and follow up with restoration and repairs (24/7/365).
- Customer (tenant) relations and the assignment of work order and quality management processes.
- Monitor and manage budgets within areas of responsibility. $2.5M+ annual salary budgets and $2M+ of contracted labor.
- Ensure delivery of services to Provost, Deans, Directors, Department Heads, Professors to support the academic and research mission of the Medical Campus Schools.
- Provide support for events and seasonal activity.
- Follow all University policies and procedures and incorporating the Boston University Medical Campus core value.
- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience or equivalent.
