Job Description - Senior Director of External Engagement- Oncology

Background:
One of Lilly’s most important corporate objectives is to improve patient outcomes. A key step in achieving this goal is to first improve our relationship and experience with external HCPs. With upcoming launches as well as a robust pipeline, it is imperative that Lilly is positioned both to lead and deliver a succinct strategy, strong partnership, and a positive experience with all thought leaders we engage.
As we prepare for new portfolio entries through to upcoming launches and our pipeline, a clear and sustainable thought leader strategy must be developed to ensure we are identifying, prioritizing, engaging, and providing the right experience for our external HCPs from pre-clinical to commercialization.
Key Objectives/Deliverables:
Serve as the Senior Director of External Engagement for Oncology:
Lead as the single point of contact for External Engagement strategic coordination across the drug development pipeline (Pre-clinical to post launch) and across functions (Discovery, Development, Commercial, Med Affairs, VEO, etc.)
Drive Thought Leader identification, prioritization, selection, engagement, and evaluation in the planning process for Oncology based on a deep understanding of the science, data and external landscape.
Develop a short and long-term External Engagement strategy with a key focus on successful launch delivery.
Develop and maintain an internal stakeholder plan based on solid understanding to evolving stakeholder needs and maintain a constant line-of-sight to how those needs evolve based on the competitive environment.
Partner, listen, and engage with key stakeholders, from clinical development to GPTs (identification, planning, engagement, insights, and evaluation).
Identify any organizational barriers to implementing the Oncology engagement strategy effectively, create a change management plan and act up on it.
Deliver Exceptional Customer Engagement and Experience:
Lead the development and oversight of individual Thought Leader engagement plans including preferences across all customer-facing roles and act as a guide to regions and affiliates.
Understand, guide, and influence the requirements and interdependencies on related projects that may improve TL contracting, engagement, and the overall customer experience. This includes, but is not limited to, systems, tools, training, processes, vendors, standards, policies, and procedures.
Develop and own the appropriate business process to ensure effective implementation and accountability of thought leader plans.
Make trade-off recommendations to key stakeholders that enable the TL strategy and increase customer engagement.
Provide guidance for Advisory Board & Single advising activity Planning and Execution.
Consult as needed with the content owner for Advisory Boards for the global and US teams. Also provide support to other regional and affiliate Advisory Boards.
Lead the identification of top Thought Leaders to consult on key business needs/issues; coordinate with regions and affiliates to drive identification of top regional and local TLs.
Maintain a master calendar of all advisory activities and ensure that activities are coordinated across the molecules, functions, regions, and affiliates.
Partner with individuals who are responsible for executing advisory contracts to initiate contracting procedures; monitor progress of contract completion and ensure they are completed on time.
Key Business Partner to the Customer Meeting Services Organization:
Influence and partner with the Associate-Customer Meeting Services to ensure a clear and seamless understanding of the TL engagement plan including preferences on communication channels and other relevant information that will remove barriers and enable a positive customer experience.
Partner with the Associate-Customer Meeting Services on the strategic project plan and implementation
Provide continuous feedback to the Customer Meeting Services organization to ensure seamless integration, partnership, and process improvement.
Basic Requirements:
Four-year Bachelor degree
Minimum of 3+ years in customer facing roles
Oncology Experience
Demonstrated experience influencing executive leadership
Previous experience in strategic planning that includes translation into tactics
Demonstrated ability to partner and/or work successfully across functions

Additional Preferences:
Knowledge of the drug development process across all phases in the pharmaceutical industry

Other Information:
This role primarily supports the breast portfolio but could expand or evolve depending on the portfolio and evolving business needs
Position requires approximately 15- 25% international and domestic travel
Flexible with work schedule—occasional evening conference calls may be necessary
