Senior Design Engineer

Position Overview

Jazry, a leader in renewable energy, is seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer Manager to spearhead our solar energy projects, with a particular emphasis on utility-scale and C&I solar power systems within the U.S. This role involves advanced design methodologies, leading-edge software tools, compliance with U.S. engineering standards, and a focus on innovative solar solutions including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and power plant control systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Solar System Design Initiatives: Direct the design of C&I (1-20 MW) and utility-scale solar projects (50-500 MW), setting high standards for innovation and quality.
• PV System Design and BESS Integration: Manage a team to implement design standards and integrate BESS to optimize storage and grid stability.
• Energy and Cost Estimation: Utilize Jazry’s tools for precise energy production and cost estimates, refining methodologies for enhanced reliability.
• Risk Evaluation and Mitigation: Address risks related to interconnection, structural integrity, and environmental impact, developing strategies to mitigate them.
• Power Plant Control Systems: Implement and optimize control systems for efficient operation, including SCADA for real-time monitoring and management.
• Substation Design and System Interconnection: Oversee the design of substations, including switchgear selection, transformer sizing, and interconnection solutions to ensure reliability and compliance.
• Process Improvement: Continuously refine design and estimation processes for efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications:

• Experience: 10+ years in solar energy system design, with expertise in both C&I and utility-scale projects.
• Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in CAD (AutoCAD, SketchUp) and solar simulation (PVSyst, Helioscope), with experience in EMS software like ETAP for energy management.
• Knowledge of Control Systems: Familiarity with power plant control software, such as SCADA systems, for monitoring and optimizing plant operations.
• Understanding of U.S. Standards: Deep knowledge of NEC, IEEE, and ANSI codes, with a Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent.
• Team Leadership: Proven ability to lead design teams and collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
• Educational Background: Minimum bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with a master’s degree preferred.
