Uber is home to one of the largest and unique insurance programs in the world and we're looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Insurance Accounting team! This is a crucial role that will assist in overseeing worldwide insurance accounting operations in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
You will drive month-end close, shape key insurance accounting processes, and work on projects to automate and facilitate standard processes to ensure complete, accurate, and timely accounting related to insurance activities. You will be a key player in scaling our ever-growing insurance landscape by collaborating with key business partners. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting background and can demonstrate current abilities to help our team become more efficient and effective.
What You'll Do
For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$117,000 per year - USD$130,000 per year. For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$117,000 per year - USD$130,000 per year. For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits. What You'll Do
- Assist in managing month-end close, prepare journal entries, and review/prepare balance sheet reconciliations.
- Track mileage-based policies and account for premium expense accruals.
- Own and maintain prepaid amortization schedules.
- Maintain and record insurance losses paid activity against reserve accruals.
- Research and identify cash transactions to ensure compliance with accounting policies and coding accuracy.
- Partner with internal business partners, such as Risk, Insurance, Strategic Finance, Claims, and AP, on ad-hoc projects.
- Identify areas of improvement and assist with streamlining processes via automation (develop, test, and implement technology).
- Manage personnel on our Global Business Solutions team.
- Support external audit requirements related to specific areas of responsibility.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent practical experience
- 3 years of experience in accounting
- Problem-solving and analytical skills, strong interpersonal skills
- Strong Excel skills
- P&C insurance experience (P&C insurance company, or as an audit client)
- CPA
- Experience with Oracle and HFM
- Month-end close experience
