POSITION DUTIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Perform general ledger accounting for partnership, individual, trusts and other entities, including, but not limited to:
- Preparation and recording of general ledger entries
- Preparation and review of monthly general ledger account reconciliations, including timely resolution of exceptions
- Review of trust transactions for appropriate recording and classification as principal or income events
- Preparation and reconciliation of monthly income allocations on partnerships
- Approval of vendor disbursements for appropriate financial recordkeeping
- Prepare and review appropriate partnership, client and other financial reporting for internal and external purposes, including, but not limited to:
- Quarterly balance sheets, income statements, equity roll forwards, cash flows and supporting schedules for partnerships
- Quarterly client statements for trusts, individuals, and disregarded entities
- Quarterly tax basis reporting packages for partnerships
- Quarterly aggregated balance sheets and cash flow reporting for certain groups of individuals and key trusts
- Ad hoc requests from management and business partners
- Review disbursements for proper entity, vendor, portfolio, descriptions, account coding, trust accounting and invoice support.
- Participate in or lead testing and execution of financial transactions that are complex and involve multiple departments
- Liaison with internal stakeholders including tax, trust and operations
- Work closely with external service providers
- Lead or significantly contribute to special projects providing accounting subject matter expertise
- Monitor and actively participate or lead implementation of internal accounting controls
- Utilize systems for optimal process and reporting efficiencies. Seek to continually make accounting process more efficient. May participate in system conversion or implementation projects or annual software upgrades.
- Develop, document and maintain accounting policies and procedures
- Manage audit requests for external and internal audits and control reviews, including the preparation of the GAAP financial statements if required
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting or finance required
- CPA preferred
- Minimum 5 years of relevant finance and accounting experience;, trust and partnership accounting experience preferred
- Prior experience preparing budgets and other financial reporting for management
Skills and Knowledge
- Understanding of accounting principles, practices and internal controls
- Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
- Ability to work well independently and exhibit good judgment
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated experience with financial systems and data. Proficient in MS Office, including advance usage of Excel
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
- Comfortable with and adept at learning new technology interfaces and software packages
- Experience with Archway/ATWEB software preferred
- Experience with Oracle ARCS preferred
- Proactive and positive attitude, highly motivated, self-directed with minimal daily supervision
- Demonstrated flexibility in adapting to new and varying situations
