Job Overview
TheSenior Accountant will report to the Assistant Controller and will support the day-to-day operations of our corporate accounting function. This role will be tasked with supporting the financial close process with a focus on continuous process and systems improvement. This role, with the support of the Assistant Controller and VP Global Controller, will work very closely with both internal and external business partners. Providing timely financial information and guidance with regards to the financial impact of business decisions and supporting the audit and other compliance requirements. The successful candidate will be excited to gain a thorough understanding of the business, is a self-starter and comfortable with working autonomously, embrace process improvement, support the Financial Planning and Analysis team in developing meaningful management reports and KPIs, and work in a global team to help grow and scale the Company.
The ideal candidate will balance an analytical approach with a hard-working attitude to "make it happen" and be an excellent communicator amongst their peers.
Responsibilities
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close activities, including review and iteration of financial statement consolidation and all required analyses.
- Support, review, and validate output from international finance team members and outsourced transactional accounting services provider.
- Collaborate with FP&A team to support monthly and quarterly management reporting and flux analyses as well as quarterly board and debt compliance financial statement requirements.
- Identify opportunities and implement solutions that will result in greater efficiency and accuracy for the monthly close process.
- With the support of the Assistant Controller and VP Global Controller, identify, research, and resolve technical accounting issues, consult with internal and external partners, and implement new accounting policies in accordance with US GAAP.
- Document and review technical accounting assessments and conclusions in memos for management and auditors.
- Assist in the ongoing management of audit partners for all global statutory audit requirements.
- Support the Company's revenue recognition and associated contract cost determinations and accounting in accordance with ASC 606
- Support the Company's lease determinations and accounting in accordance with ASC 842
- Support the ongoing transfer pricing and intercompany compliance reviews between the Company’s global subsidiaries.
- Assist in ad hoc finance projects as needed including sales tax compliance and commission administration enablement.
- Develop key relationships across the organization; particularly with leadership in each of the functional areas.
Skills and Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Minimum of 5-10 years' relevant work experience
- Experience as a supervisor/manager is required (even though this role may not initially have direct reports)
- Advanced skills in Excel/spreadsheet modeling
- Strong communication skills, including ability to present technical guidance and analysis in a comprehensive and articulate manner to different levels and departments throughout the organization as well as frequent internal Finance team communications to our global teams.
- Experience in Software or Software as a Service industry preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with financial systems, including the ability to adapt and implement new systems and applications – i.e. Experience as a project manager of at least one finance system implementation.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent work experience required.
- CPA/MBA a plus
Location: Portsmouth, New Hampshire- Hybrid role. Minimum 1 day a week in office with some additional days in person depending on the needs of the business/team. Local candidates only please.
