Facilitates excellent patient-centered customer service and proficiently processes requests for radiological exams. Obtains pertinent information needed to perform intake triage, appointment scheduling, referral processing, registration of new patients and referral of patients to faculty physicians, based on knowledge of administrative protocols and in accordance with policies and procedures in a high-volume work queue and real-time environment. Effectively communicates with clinics, physicians, technical staff and patients. Protects the fiscal interest of the enterprise by reviewing orders for completeness (by comparing requested exam to reason stated for the exam) to verify compatibility. Competent in following compliance procedures and keeps up-to-date with revisions. Displays proficiency in the Epic electronic health record, scans orders in web-based appointment (media imaging) and has a working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, ICD-10 and CPT coding.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent is required.
- One year of clerical and/or customer service experience required, ideally in a health care or hospitality-related industry.
- On-the-job knowledge of medical terminology or successfully completed courses in medical terminology, basic anatomy, CPT and ICD-10 coding preferred.
- Position requires a clinical aptitude.
- The required a high level of general computer literacy, which may be demonstrated by successful experience on a variety of computer software packages and/or proprietary systems.
- Must have excellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skills.
- Must be able to perform under stress when confronted with emergency, critical or difficult situations.
- Incumbent must be comfortable discussing financial and personal health matters with patients in a professional manner.
- Must be able to multitask effectively, prioritize responsibilities, problem solve, perform in a team environment and maintain a high standard of patient focus while making generalizations, evaluations or decisions based on judgmental criteria.
- Must be comfortable requesting information and giving information to clinics, physicians, patients and technical/clinical staff.
