Facilitates excellent customer service and proficiently processes requests for GI procedures. Obtains all pertinent information needed to schedule GI procedures at UF Health Shands Cancer Hospital Endoscopy Suite and Shands Endoscopy Center. Effectively communicates with clinics, physicians, technical staff, nurses and patients. Protects the fiscal interest of the enterprise by reviewing orders for completeness and by comparing requested procedures to reason stated for the procedure to verify compatibility. Competent in following compliance procedures and keeps up to date with all revisions. Displays proficiency in the Epic applications. Has a working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and ICD-9 and CPT coding. Intakes procedural referrals/case requests, triages appropriately and completes scheduling process accurately and in an expedient manner. Handles a high volume of calls in a professional and expeditious manner to meet optimal wait times, decrease abandonment rates and maximize efficiency and patient satisfaction.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Eighteen months up to two years of experience in nursing support capacity (CNA, MA, PCA) or eighteen months up to two years of hospital or medical practice clerical and/or administrative support experience required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology required; CPT and ICD-9 coding experience preferred.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
- A required high level of general computer literacy may be demonstrated by successful experience with variety of computer software.
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skills must be demonstrated.
- Must be able to perform under stress when confronted with critical or unusual situations.
- Must be able to multitask effectively, maintaining a high standard of patient focus while making generalizations, evaluations or decisions based on sensory or judgment criteria.
- Epic, UFHealth Bridge, Microsoft Office and related system knowledge preferred.
- Attention to detail and being able to produce high quality and quantity of work are required.
- Learning, mastering and keeping current on vast amounts of scheduling criteria is required.
