Description:

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Salary: Starting at $20/hr. 20% of employee hours will be paid between $23-24/hr. based on contract agreement
Schedule: The Samaritan House is open 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. Overnight Shift: 9:30AM-6AM.
Training: We provide a robust training curriculum that will support our employees throughout their career. Training provided within the first year of employment includes: De-escalation & Safety; Mental Health First Aid; Substance Abuse & Mental Health; Trauma Informed Care; and many more.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

A Shelter Associate at Catholic Charities:

  • Follows procedures and guidelines set forth in operating guidelines manual(s) to help maintain structure and order in the living environment.
  • Accurately and promptly completes all required documentation/data, including entering relevant resident information in daily logs before ending shift assignment.
  • Responds appropriately to needs and crisis situations, such as mediating basic interpersonal problems between residents and summoning emergency personnel.
  • Completes necessary records and reports, including on the computer or manually, as directed.
  • Distributes and inventories supplies.
  • Conducts in-take and orientation of new clients.
  • Provides appropriate information and referrals.
  • Some college or technical school preferred; and three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately in crisis situations, using the Trauma-Informed Care model of service delivery.
