Gannett Fleming's Security and Safety services group provide technical, executive advise, and program support to help our clients to mitigate risks to the public, their personnel, and their property. Through Security and Safety analysis, planning, design, certification, and oversight solutions, we help our client's protect the people and assets that are important to their mission and supporting our nation's economy.
The Assistant Director of Safety and Security is responsible for successfully developing a business line (vertical market) within our Security and Safety practice, procuring work, and producing and managing the work product.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for managing the practice / business unit to include strategic planning, marketing, corporate reports, and P/L.
- Develops, initiates, plans, executes, controls and closes-out projects and scopes of service involving nominal risk and complexity that are generally practice specific, or in support of larger projects. May manage one or more orgs to deliver scopes of service.
- Responsible for preparing analysis details and outlines, technical specifications, studies and reports, project documents, and provides support of broader Security and Safety activities.
- Provides subject matter expert (SME) guidance and support to the project team and stakeholders.
- Actively engages with project team members, staff, and stakeholders to ensure that advice and support is readily available.
- Manages direct reports.
- Responsible for producing the finished work product and ensuring the success of projects.
- Improves the competencies and skills of project team members under their direction by providing learning initiatives, coaching, and mentoring.
- Interfaces directly with clients and is able to work in multi-disciplinary teams and follow multiple priorities.
- Has demonstrated and continues to demonstrate the ability to cultivate, develop, and capture new business.
- Supports capture of pursuits, assisting in the review of proposals, providing technical, business, and legal content and advice.
EDUCATION AND LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
- Master's degree (Business degree preferred)
- Licensing, education, training, or experience in the security, cybersecurity, safety, or engineering and design field is required.
- A certification from a recognized physical security, safety, or cyber security organization is preferred.
- Certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) is preferred.
TRAINING, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- 15+ years of full-time work experience is required.
- Understanding of and experience in the consulting industry is required.
- Ability to develop, procure, and maintain consulting contracts is required.
- Mandatory management, supervisory and leadership experience.
- Able to manage projects and project financials.
- Expected to produce the work product.
- Able to self-manage work schedule and workload.
- Able to work as part of a team.
- Able to manage P/L for a Practice/Business Unit.
- Good presentation skills are required.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is required.
- Good oral and written communication skills are required.
