Safety Coordinator – Railroad Track Maintenance
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Interprets safety rules, regulations, and procedures for management and employees;
• Assists with the development, implementation and on-going maintenance of safety programs;
• Conduct safety audits and monitoring;
• Prepares and conducts daily safety meetings;
• Administers safety training programs, including new hire, general safety, CPR/1st Aid, hazardous materials, defensive driving, and OSHA regulated training & FRA.
• Investigate accidents and near-misses to ascertain causes for use in recommending preventive safety measures and developing safety programs.
• Company liaison with customers on safety-related matters including safety meetings, pre-job safety walks through and on-site safety evaluations and inspections;
• Travel to field locations and monitor safety of employees and equipment. Make recommendations related to findings.

• Strong leadership & communication skills including the ability to work with vendors, customers and employees;
• Principles of accident prevention, loss control and risk identification to safety programs;
• This position requires an individual who is self-motivated with the ability to motivate others;
• Ability to demonstrate use of safety equipment and qualify employee use;
• Able to recognize and respond to safety emergencies, on an on-call, as needed basis, to the Dow Seadrift location.
• Experience with PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
• Support teams with root cause analysis for incident and near miss investigations to understand root cause and drive corrective actions (Preparation and/or complete written summary).

• Oral Comprehension & Expression The ability to communicate, listen and understand information and direction through spoken words and sentences;
• Speech clarity - the ability to speak clearly so others can understand;
• Written Comprehension & Expression - The ability to read, write and understand information and ideas;
• Reasoning - The ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction and the ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations;

• A minimum of 1-2 years previous Safety experience, preferably in a refinery or plant setting;
• Must be authorized to work within the United States;
• Equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities;
• Current safety certification from a recognized certifying body, such as SSH, CSHO, or minimum eligibility requirements met.
• Must have a TWIC or able to obtain one.
• Knowledge of FRA rules.

• Frequent lifting or moving of materials up to 50 lbs.;
• Ability to work in environmental extremes such as heat, cold, air pollution, dust, rain, etc.;
• The ability to crouch, kneel, balance, lift, carry, push, pull, reach, climb, twist, squat, sit and stand;
• Physically submit to periodic drug, background, and clearance screenings (employment is contingent upon favorable results).
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Able to meet insurance standards in order to drive a company vehicle.
