The Revenue Cycle Coordinator position is responsible for audit management and tracking within multi-disciplinary teams, special projects, as well as on boarding new HIM Techs. This position will determine how Audit Processes can be best aligned with best practices to achieve optimal results for the Revenue Cycle. Medical Records Revenue Cycle Coordinator works to fully protect the privacy and security of all patient’s medical records regardless of format, to ensure that confidentiality is maintained in accordance to Washington State and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Duties:
- Monitor incoming, pending, and outstanding Audits and ensure timely response.
- Coordinate the collection of pertinent documentation necessary for audit
- Assemble required medical records though out entire EMR, historical EMR, and paper charts
- Create and maintain spreadsheet of audit requests, actions, and outcomes of audits
- Provides feedback to the MR Manager on needs of the department
- Continually adapts to changing needs of audits and works with multidisciplinary teams for best outcome of audits
- Ensure audit documentation requests are documented in the EMR
- Thoroughly inspect and analyze the gathered records, often hundreds of pages, prior to submitting
- Upload, fax, email, or mail secure audit documents in a timely manner, often under strict timelines
- Coordinate with the billing department on the determination of the audit;
- If denied facilitate appeal and redetermination steps if appropriate
- Work within tight deadlines and due dates
- Report all findings to MR Manager
- Running provider deficiency report weekly with provider follow up
- Works closely with the MR Manager on hiring and training of new employees
- Works special projects as needed
- Customer Service – provide excellent customer service for our patients & community
- Employee functions at all times within guidelines established in the Island Hospital HIPAA Compliance Policies and Confidentiality Agreements
- Must have demonstrated ability to interact positively with Administration, Directors, Managers, Supervisors, peers, co-workers, subordinates, patients and visitors.
- Must meet regular attendance standard and must stay at or below average sick leave utilization levels.
- Perform all above duties within the HIPPA regulations
Requirements:
- High School graduate or equivalency, Associates degree preferred
- Broad knowledge of the audit processes
- 5+ years of HIM Experience
- Strong understanding of HIPAA rules and guidelines
