Duties and Responsibilities
(NOTE: ** denotes Essential Functions)

  1. **Under the supervision of the Coordinator for Leeward CC's Native Hawaiian Center at Pu'uloa, serve as the Project Coordinator responsible for administering and executing the Kamehameha Schools Kai'ulu grant activities which includes the development, implementation, management, and evaluation of the grant goals and objectives.
  2. **Create and develop a strategic plan that implements the grants goals, objectives, and resources; outlines and integrates a Hawaiian culture-based education as the foundation for the program; and directs activities in ways that work in concert with increased student utilization of the services of the College's Native Hawaiian Center at Pu'uloa.
  3. **Coordinates with Leeward CC divisions, units, and personnel to ensure agreement terms of the grant are met, provides regular and ongoing project updates to key personnel on campus and community partners, and identifies successes and potential barriers.
  4. **Works with campus community, Native Hawaiian agencies, and community groups to promote grant activities and leverage support for ongoing grant activities and to ensure continual funding and program sustainability.
  5. **Hires, trains, supervises, and manages a variety of positions to ensure grant objectives and project activities are met.
  6. **Defines and collects data relevant to achievement of grant goals and objectives; implements and supervises records management system for data record keeping; and creates statistical, narrative and fiscal reports and presentations as needed.
  7. **Coordinates assessment and evaluation processes (e.g., pre/post formative/summative assessment, data collection/analysis, coordinates with evaluator to complete reporting processes) and identifies areas for continuous improvement as noted by the grant indicators.
  8. **Provides direct budget management for the grant's budget, including but not limited to, following procurement procedures, preparation and/or amendment of grant's budget, and fiscal reporting in collaboration with the campus fiscal officer.
  9. **Prepares information and data and writes the Annual Performance Report (APR) for the grant and campus program review process based on program indicators designated for this grant.
  10. Serves on College committees and attends meetings on- and off-campus representing the Native Hawaiian Center at Pu'uloa, the Kamehameha Schools Kai'ulu grant and the College.
  11. Work hours may include evenings and weekends, on- and off-campus.
  12. Other Duties as Assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education, Educational Counseling, Business, Social Sciences, or Social Work and 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for supporting students in an educational setting; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
  2. Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the application of managing, evaluating and report writing of grant funded programs as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
  3. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with grant or program management.
  4. Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
  5. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  6. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
  7. Demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
  8. Demonstrated ability to apply spreadsheets and presentation software.
  9. Demonstrated experience in budget management and/or fiscal processing.
  10. Experience in working with diverse student populations that include at-risk socioeconomically disadvantaged, underrepresented, Native Hawaiian and/or non-traditional students.
  11. Able to work evenings and weekends, on- and off-campus as needed.

Desirable Qualifications
  1. Master's degree in Education, Educational Counseling, Business, Social Sciences, or Social Work.
  2. Coursework in Hawaiian Studies or Hawaiian Language.
  3. Knowledge of the University's or Leeward CC's mission, as it relates to becoming a leading indigenous-serving higher education institution.
  4. Experience working with Native Hawaiian serving organizations.
  5. Knowledge of college admissions and financial aid procedures.
  6. Experience working with Native Hawaiian students in higher education.
