American Professional Educational Services, Inc, is a subsidiary of the Hartford Healthcare Network. We are one of the largest allied health schools in eastern Connecticut. Our programs include CPR, First Aid, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. Our Paramedic Program is accredited by the CAAHP upon the recommendation of the CAEP for Emergency Medical Services Professions. We also offer Phlebotomy Technician and EKG Technician programs and are a National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) Training Center. All our programs exceed state and national minimum requirements for content and course pass rates.
Job Summary
This position is responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of the school’s allied health programs to include medical assistant, phlebotomy technician and EKG technician courses. Regular teaching of programs, primarily during the weekday, is required. The duties include:
- Coordinates and oversees the National Health Career Association CET/CPT/CCMA testing for the EKG, Phlebotomy Technician, and Medical Assisting programs.
- Manages, schedules and evaluates performance of instructors assigned to allied health programs.
- Maintains appropriate levels of communication with state officials to ensure all programs are following the State of Connecticut Office of Higher Education and Department of Public Health guidance and directives.
- Serves as the curriculum manager and maintains oversight on all assigned programs.
- Maintains positive relationships with the unit heads and managers of all the areas facilities where clinicals and internships are completed in order to enhance open lines of communication.
- Works in conjunction with the Director of Training and Education to adjudicate any and all discrepancies with the policies and procedures of assigned allied health courses.
- Collaborates with the Director of Training and Education to develop marketing strategies
Qualifications
· A minimum of two years of work experience as a phlebotomist. The work experience must have taken place within the past 5 years.
· Phlebotomy Technician certification or Medical Assistant certification
· Excellent organizational and communication skills required.
· Proficient with MS Office Suite and operation of basic computer and office equipment.
· Must be able to work independently.
· Associates degree or higher preferred
