Job Description:
The Office of Student Diversity and Multicultural Affairs is seeking a part-time Program Coordinator. In this position, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for spearheading and coordinating various departmental events and initiatives aimed at promoting student involvement and fostering inclusion. Working collaboratively with individuals throughout the campus community, the Program Coordinator will strive to create brave spaces that encourage open dialogue and understanding. All efforts will be aligned with Fairfield University's Diversity and Inclusive Excellence statement.
The Program coordinator will manage day, evening and weekend diversity programming and support affinity clubs & organizations. The Program Coordinator reports directly to the Associate Director.
Essential Functions:
Organization and Planning of Student Diversity & Multicultural Affairs Programs
Conduct assessments, evaluations, and implementation of diversity programs and activities
Demonstrate proficiency in financial management, including tracking and analyzing funds for assigned programming budget
Oversee office marketing efforts on Instagram and other social media platforms
Student Services
Coordinate and facilitate trainings and workshops for affinity clubs and their advisors
Hold regular meetings with student, community leaders and affinity advisors on a weekly, biweekly and bi-monthly basis, respectively
Foster a socially inclusive environment that cultivates excellence and promotes respect in student interactions
Develop and organize key programs aimed at supporting the growth and achievement of underrepresented students
Engage in campus-wide and residence hall programs as instructed by the director and associate director, or in collaboration with the building area coordinator.
Required Qualifications
Demonstrate strong collaboration skills to effectively work with a diverse team
Ability to provide training to student leaders on topics related to social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion
Ability to recognize and address various issues related to multiculturalism, cross-cultural dynamics, intersections of identity, racism, sexism, heterosexism, homophobia, classism, religious oppression, cultural appropriation, ableism, and inclusive excellence
Possess knowledge of the challenges and experiences faced by underrepresented communities on a college campus
Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends
Excellent organizational skills to effectively manage multiple projects
Proficiency in leading and facilitating meetings
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to effectively use different technologies and digital platforms for various tasks
Ability to manage tasks in an open office setting that sees high foot traffic
Other Duties as assigned
Qualifications: Bachelor degree preferred. Applicants should have a significant interest or background in student affairs administration/college student personnel. Applicants should possess the ability to effectively navigate working and accommodating different processes and methodologies. Applicants must have demonstrated experience and/or interest in working in diversity and multicultural education, student programs, and leadership development. Applicants with strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, and experience working with a diverse student population and professionals are desired.
Compensation: 20-25 hours per week (Hourly)
General Schedule: 4:30pm-8:30pm M-Th and flexible Fridays
