The Supported Living Group provides industry leading non-medical community based and person focused support services throughout the state of Connecticut. Our day program, Inspire Arts has two locations in Avon and Bethany, CT.

Inspire Arts is a unique and collaborative Art Program which supports artists living with disabilities to produce fine art. Our artists have access to fully equipped creative studio spaces and are supported to pursue opportunities for securing competitive income from their work. All funds received from sales are reinvested back into the program which ensures Inspire Arts sustainability and longevity.

As the Art Program Coordinator in Bethany, CT, your days will be filled with excitement and creativity as you work hand-in-hand with clients to support their artistic journeys. From developing innovative programs, to igniting their creativity by offering tailored artistic instruction - you'll play a vital role in empowering individuals to express themselves through art. REQUIREMENTS AS THE ART PROGRAM COORDINATOR

To excel as the Art Program Coordinator at The Supported Living Group in Bethany, CT, you'll need a unique blend of skills and qualities. Proficiency in working with art materials is a must, as you will be guiding clients through their creative endeavors. Your ability to connect with individuals who face challenges in articulating their thoughts and emotions is crucial in ensuring that their voices are heard and understood. Being adept at reading the room for both social cues and emotional needs will allow you to create a supportive and inclusive space where everyone can thrive. Your empathy, creativity, and keen understanding of various communication styles will be essential in empowering our clients to express themselves through art.

Knowledge, skill, and requirements for the position are:

  • Passion for the arts! A creative background and experience with your own creative process.
  • Experience in working with various art mediums like paint, clay, textiles, printmaking, collage, and offering step by step instruction and guidance.
  • Familiarity with local CT arts programs, organizations, galleries a plus.
  • Working with a team - be supportive of your colleagues, have a collaborative spirit, and able to ask for help when needed.
  • Previous experience working with people with disabilities is a plus but not required as we will provide some initial training. Must be sensitive to the needs and concerns of people with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to motivate, inspire, and have a positive outlook.
  • Flexibility, problem-solving, and adaptability for unexpected changes that may occur around artist's needs, schedules, etc.
  • Organization, planning, and ability to work independently - creating structured schedules for artists if needed, maintaining art supplies, providing an inspiring and organized space. Take initiative to plan in advance for possible new attendees, seasonal projects, a holiday, or event.
  • Upon Supervisor's request take on any additional assignments.
