SUMMARY
The Product Engineer plans, manages, and reports all aspects of Product Engineering activities for responsible project. Ensures all Product Engineering activities are in conformance with the company's policies and/or objectives and that project engineering tasks are completed within assigned timelines and budgets. The following responsibilities will be performed personally and with counterpart personnel at corporate and China offices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· New Product Development
· Responsible for all aspects of, assigned, engineering projects from concept to commercialization.
- Manage development process to meet timelines.
- Initial CAD via SolidWorks.
- Detailed CAD maintenance throughout development process.
- Final CAD via SolidWorks.
- Oversee detailed drawings.
- Define, document, and communicate CTQ’s (Critical to Quality) and specifications via Tech packs.
- Manage engineering BOM, warranty BOM and part numbering.
- Ensure design alignment throughout development across multiple teams.
· Work closely with the international engineering team to execute and problem solve to meet timelines.
· Have an understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and be able to work with factories to match design and capabilities.
· Existing Products
· Responsible for identifying and submitting designs for product improvement changes.
· Confers with other disciplines of the company as required to clarify or resolve design problems.
· Cost Reductions
· Responsible for the continuous evaluation of existing products for cost reduction opportunities, on an ongoing basis.
· Other duties assigned.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Engineering from four-year college or university.
· 8 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Proficient use of computer engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering and design tasks.
· A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
· Exceptional ability to read and comprehend moderately technical instructions, voice and email correspondence and memos.
· Strong interpersonal skills, innovative problem-solving skills, and strong facilitation skills.
· Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
· Ability to effectively communicate or present information in one-on-one and small group situations such as with peers, supervisors, executive management, customers, clients, suppliers or vendors.
· Ability to perform basic math functions including statistical and dimensional calculations, fractions, decimals, rate, ratio, percent computations and engineer-metric/metric-engineer conversions.
· Ability to use computers to assist with all facets of job. Specific skills include but are not limited to proficiency with the following: Email, spreadsheets, word documents, presentation software, flow charts or graphing software, project management software, SolidWorks and familiarity with other CAD systems.
· Ability to travel as required to support engineering services.
