Job description

Printpack’s Medical Division is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Product Development Engineer I orProduct Development Engineer II, depending on experience. This position could be located in Atlanta, GA, or Marshall, NC, and will report to the Product Development Manager.
  • Coordinate directly with customers, suppliers, and cross functionally with sales, marketing, manufacturing, and operations planning for timely, successful commercialization of new blown film, converted products, and product improvements
  • Design and validate specifications to be fit-for-use and fit-for-make. Data gathering and analysis are imperative for success
  • Lead customer technical calls/visits and manufacturing/customer trials to ensure communication and expedite commercialization
  • Serve as primary technical contact for assigned customers
  • Support manufacturing technical needs for existing specifications and provide onsite support of trials
  • Be a resource for material/process related root cause investigations
  • Lead divisional initiatives on new converting and raw material technology. Identify opportunities for innovative growth, disseminating such information appropriately within the Printpack technical community.
  • Have a bias for internal and external customer service
  • Embrace and support an innovative, collaborative environment
Requirements:
  • Four-year degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical preferred), Chemistry, Polymer or Material Science, Packaging Sciences, or a closely affiliated degree program
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Product Development and/or Application Development and/or Process Engineering experience preferred
  • Experience in a flexible packaging industry technical role is a plus
  • Printing, laminating, bag/pouch making process experience is a plus
  • Experience communicating and establishing relationships with customers is a plus
  • Experience with medical packaging is a plus
  • Travel commitment: 25 – 50% (Customer/Printpack plant trials and meetings)
