Position Description
The Produce Business Development & Sales Manager will assume the critical responsibility in advancing revenue growth by building relationships with new clients and nurturing existing accounts within the Midwest/Northeastern US, wholesale, foodservice, and retail customers. The sales territory will include the Midwest & Northeastern US, to minimize transportation miles from the growing operations consistent with our sustainability mission. Leveraging your expertise, industry acumen, and established networks, you will endeavor to cultivate and nurture meaningful and productive affiliations with both foodservice and retail accounts. This position will bridge the gap between sales and operations by working closely with the operations team to optimize inventory management, demand forecasting and assuring deliveries meet customers' expectations. This position will collaborate with the director of sales to develop a winning strategy ensuring long-term sustainability and success for the company.
Responsibilities
- Identify and meticulously research leads, guiding them through the sales cycle, with a laser focus on growth opportunities.
- Execute organized and impactful prospecting, leading to the successful development, onboarding, and growth of new customers within the U.S.
- Apply discernment to identify and qualify prospective customers based on sales management parameters.
- Take charge of the entire spectrum of customer interaction, from sales and service to retention and growth.
- Manage customer price and volume quotes, ensuring strict adherence to outlined parameters.
- Conduct precise customer demand forecasting, looking ahead with a rolling 5-week advance forecast.
- Devise effective strategies for new customer development, retention, and growth.
- Strive consistently towards achieving annual bonus and development goal objectives.
- Be prepared for essential business travel, attending customer meetings, industry trade shows, and events.
- Monitor the competitive landscape and market conditions to identify opportunities, issues, and risks and recommended tactical strategies.
Minimum years of experience required
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in fresh produce sales.
Required Skills, Abilities and Qualifications
- Experience in fresh produce sales, with a current foodservice or retailer customer base.
- Remote position but must be located in Midwest/Northeastern US.
- Proven track record of growth within your current customer base, showcasing success in new customer Development and retention.
- In-depth experience and understanding of the U.S. retail sector.
- A strong desire to win and consistently surpass competition with highly developed negotiation skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, ensuring consistent engagement with customers.
- Team player mindset with a positive attitude and a resilient backbone.

Preferred Skills, Abilities and Qualifications
- Selling experience in greenhouse produce.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Marketing, Economics, or a related field, preferred.

Compensation
- $102,500 - $185,000 per year
