Summary and Scope
The Food Service Personnel Specialist will assist the Food Service Department in identifying job openings and hiring qualified candidates. This staff consists of remote, traveling, variable contract employees. The ideal candidate can multi-task, change priorities quickly and often, work independently or with a group, solve problems, exercise good judgement to make decisions, and communicate effectively and efficiently with a large, diverse staff and partner well with Human Resources and Talent Acquisition.
Essential Functions
- Work with Talent Acquisition to search for new sources of talent.
- Collaborate with the Hiring Action Team to establish an excellent working relationship to execute successful hiring events.
- Screen candidate resumes.
- Schedule phone interviews.
- Conduct phone interviews.
- Make offers to qualified candidates using company assigned platforms.
- Work with other Food Service sub-departments to determine hiring needs.
- Establish and maintain relationships with colleges, community colleges, and culinary schools.
- Enthusiastically convey the company's vision and mission to candidates.
- Ensure compliance with government regulations regarding employment.
- Conduct market research to recommend locations with the right type of skilled labor to meet the needs of the Food Service department.
- Participate in Business Development and Capture meetings to stay abreast of upcoming hiring needs.
- Assist in all onboarding procedures with new hires.
- Identify future hiring needs for the Food Service department.
- Develop job descriptions and specifications for all Food Service positions.
- Conduct interviews and sort through applicants to fill open positions.
- Attend job fairs to promote open positions.
- Provide recruitment reports to Senior Personnel Manager.
- Conduct pre-screening interviews for corporate Food Service positions.
- Participate in company hiring events at various locations.
- Present at virtual company New Hire Orientation.
- Host Food Service New Hire Orientation.
- Facilitate in-person New Hire Orientation, when required.
- Work with Team Managers to communicate schedule for local new hires.
- Communicate with all sub-departments on new hire status.
- Continually evaluate the Food Service roster to assess skills of existing personnel and identify skill gaps to be filled by future hires.
- Support in any other administrative items as deemed necessary by leadership.
- Learn and understand DR, its unique culture, and the type of personnel who succeed in the organization.

- Knowledge of local labor laws, unions, and Service Contract Act (SCA) covered employees.
- Working knowledge of MS Office and ERP and HRIS systems (UKG, preferred).
- Maturity to communicate salaries (and other sensitive information) discreetly.
- Exceptional organizational skills and business acumen
- Ability to take direction from leaders and prioritize tasks.
- Self-managed/Independent worker but also great coordination skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Must be able to communicate clearly, interactively with diverse workforce.
- Strong computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams
- Knowledge of Monday.com, preferred.
- Strong relationship building skills.
- Ability to speak, read and write English.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Administrative Support is desired.
- 1-5 years of relevant experience is required and must include some combination of:
- Personnel management.
- Staffing, recruiting, interviewing, onboarding and/or vetting.
- Leadership, supervision, or management.
- Experience within the government contracting industry.
- HRIS experience (ADP or UKG, in particular) is desired.
- 1+ years’ experience arranging group or corporate travel is desired.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Ability to twist, turn, bend, lift, kneel, climb and stand. Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs may occur. Employee may be required to travel (at organization expense) in automobile and/or aircraft.
Expected Hours of Work
The ability to work flexible hours including nights, holidays, and weekends will be required based on contract needs. It is expected for this position to attend regular meetings during typical work hours in Eastern Standard Time as well as meetings as needed for assigned projects in other time zones.
Work Environment
This job operates in professional office environments or remotely in field environments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, smartphones, photocopiers, filing cabinets canners, and presentation materials. There is an expectation of clear communication in English both written and orally.
Travel
This position requires up to 35% travel. Travel is dependent on contract load. The ability to travel to job sites and be away for extended periods of time based on contract needs is required. Short notice travel is required with 24-48 hours’ notice.
Work Authorization
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be able to travel within the Continental United States (CONUS).
- Must pass a drug test, motor vehicle record check, and a background check upon accepting a conditional offer of employment.
- Must possess a valid driver's license. Must have and maintain a clean driving record.
