Crisis Support Specialist Job Descrition
Red Rock Behavioral Health Facility a partner of Total Medical Personnel Staffing is looking for Crisis Support Specialist who are comfortable reassuring patients and their families and communicating with doctors as well as tending to the needs of his or her patients.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assists nurses with various group/individual activities including group set up and clean up
· Listens and responds effectively to consumers, reports observations to nurse for progress notes, assists and completes paperwork for various duties. Applies knowledge to identify issues and internal problems
· Maintains contact with consumers as required to coordinate activities on unit
· Participates in recreational activities and ensures safety for staff and high-risk consumer population
· Demonstrates awareness in high-risk environment; follows detailed procedures and maintains contact (at times 1:1) for high risk consumers
· Assists team members in verbal and physical interventions as needed to ensure safety of consumers
· Assists in basic cooking and cleaning for program needs (if applicable)
· Monitors supplies and coordinates or makes purchases to assure necessary items are available including games, supplies, refreshments, etc
· Participates in ongoing in-service education programs such as annual online trainings and staff development programs
· Maintains core competencies in relation to working with co-occurring disorders through continuing education and implementing skills into all aspects of treatment
· Attends staff meetings, workshops, and seminars to learn Agency policy, rules, regulations, and procedures
· Executes a wide variety of tasks and changes focus quickly as demands change
· Supports and assists with the facilitation of Care Plans for consumers within the Red Rock Health Team
· Performs other duties as assigned and is available to assist other programs as required
QUALIFICATIONS
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Must demonstrate an approachable and team oriented attitude
· Demonstrate an approachable and team oriented attitude
· Preferred previous experience in the mental health environment
· Commitment to the mission of Red Rock BHS
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Must have the ability to stand or sit for long periods of time
· Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time
· Ability to use telephone, PC, fax machine, copy machine, and printer.
SUMMARY
Demonstrates support to staff in Crisis Unit as needed including assisting with groups, monitoring unit for safety, paperwork, cooking and cleaning.
