Job Summary: This position works very closely with employees, unit management; field leaders, Central Office, HR, and external vendors to ensure compliance in all areas of payroll by performing the following duties.
Establishes and maintains positive relationships with employees, field operations, and Central Office teams to foster team spirit.
Process semi-monthly payroll for a total of approximately 300 employees; ensuring all payroll rules are applied accordingly based on the states that BMI operates in (CA & NV).
Ensure timely and accurate generation of payroll including vacation accrual, overtime, loans, sick and holiday pay, withholding status, garnishments and other payroll deductions that may be required by state or federal law.
Processes wage and other compensation payments to employees; prepares payroll checks/vouchers for mail or delivery.
Prepares manual checks, as needed.
Maintains tracking of vacation time and sick time; maintains payroll files, including all related payroll filing and reports.
interacts with auditors, provides access to payroll and other related records, as required.
Process applicable employment verifications of employment (Mortgage), unemployment and disability claims.
Process yearly distribution of W-2’s, WC, EEOC, and taxes reports in a prompt and accurate manner.
Process semi-monthly, monthly, and quarterly payroll reports according to the needs of field leaders and HR.
Partner with Human Resources on new hires, promotions, terminations, leaves of absence, benefits, COBRA, invoice and bill reconciliation, and status changes.
Address day to day field questions and issues that arise related to human resources, benefits and payroll.
Responsible for payroll department initiatives.
Responsible to recommend and be part of any payroll improvements (i.e. changes, improving processes and procedures).
Process 401(k) & benefits deductions and administer any reporting related to these benefits.
Strong knowledge of labor laws specifically in the wage & hour arena.
High level of confidentiality is required.
