The Academic & Staff Personnel Manager has primary responsibility for the management of administrative operations for all personnel and payroll activities of the departments/units served by the Molecular Biology Group. One of these departments contain the majority of the teaching and research activities: Molecular, Cell & Developmental Biology; the Minor in Biomedical Research; and the Life Sciences Research Core Facilities. In this multi-faceted organization, payroll and personnel affairs are especially critical to teaching, research, and administrative support, which must be carried out at a high level in all areas. The major duties include planning, directing, organizing, and controlling the activities of all human resources and payroll functions for the departments/units. The Staff & Academic Payroll and Personnel Offices provide payroll preparation, processing, and monitoring; benefits orientation and analysis; work authorization determination of eligibility; personnel analyses and reports to the Chairs, Vice Chairs, faculty, and other administrators. Staff and academic employment are described and governed by UC policies, UCLA policies and procedures, College of Letters & Science policies and procedures, labor agreements, and Federal and State laws and regulations. Enforcement of these policies, procedures, regulations, and audit requirements are all critical and require close oversight.
