BoaVida Communities is a national operator of Manufactured Home and RV Communities based in Sacramento. Our portfolio of 240+ properties is concentrated in California, but our locations span from coast to coast.
We are looking for a knowledgeable Payroll Accountant to process and assist with the management of payroll for multiple companies and who has a stakeholder mentality, with a drive to strive for ongoing improvement. A payroll accountant is able to use payroll software with accuracy and efficiency. Experience with Paychex Oasis is a plus, but experience with other payroll providers is also helpful. The Payroll Accountant is good with numbers, can be trusted with sensitive information, and has great communication skills to interact with colleagues and executives. The goal is to ensure personnel receives the correct compensation in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Gather information on employees' hours worked and calculate the correct amount incorporating overtime, deductions, bonuses etc. with assistance of a timekeeping and payroll system.
- Familiarization with Workers Comp rates in various states with the ability to develop reports to submit to accounting for billing insurance, and to reconcile totals by location.
- Receive approval from upper management for payments when needed
- Prepare and execute pay orders through an electronic system or distribute paychecks
- Audit employee pay records and reconcile totals by departmental cost center, location, etc.
- Keep track of hour rates, wages, compensation benefit rates, new hire information etc.
- Address issues and questions regarding payroll from employees and superiors
- Prepare reports for upper management, human resources and accounting department etc.
- Documents payroll process and procedures.
Skills
- Proven experience as payroll accountant, preferably experience with multiple locations/companies
- Solid understanding payroll best practices
- Very good knowledge of legislation and regulations of the field
- Ability to develop custom reports using report writer and/or Excel.
- Proficient in MS Office and good knowledge of relevant software (preferably Paychex Oasis, but experience with other provers is helpful) and databases
- Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality
- Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- CPP Certification preferred, but not necessary
- High school diploma or equivalent; BSc/BA in business, accounting or relevant field is a plus
