We are seeking a diligent, responsible multitasker with a great attitude to join our ophthalmology practice as a Patient Care Coordinator. As a Patient Care Coordinator, you will be responsible for efficiently managing various administrative and Patient Care tasks at the front desk. Your role will involve scheduling patient appointments, promptly responding to patient inquiries, managing inventory, submitting prescription refills, handling insurance prior authorizations, checking insurance eligibility, and assisting patients with any other needs they might have.
Responsibilities:
- Schedule patient appointments and maintain the appointment calendar.
- Promptly respond to patient inquiries, both in-person and over the phone, regarding appointments, procedures, and general inquiries.
- Manage inventory of office supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and placing orders as needed.
- Submit prescription refills to pharmacies and coordinate with physicians to ensure timely delivery.
- Handle insurance prior authorizations for procedures and medications, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up.
- Check insurance eligibility for patients and provide necessary information regarding coverage and benefits.
- Assist patients with any other needs they might have, such as completing forms, providing educational materials, and addressing concerns.
- Collaborate with medical staff and other team members to ensure smooth operations and excellent Patient Care.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all privacy regulations.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in healthcare administration is a plus.
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a medical or ophthalmology practice.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in computer systems and medical software.
- Knowledge of insurance protocols, prior authorizations, and eligibility verification.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- A positive attitude and a passion for providing exceptional Patient Care.
