Role: HR Assistant
Reports to: HR Director
Location: BGCH Administrative Office
Hours: Reg. Part-time 20-25 hours/week
Pay: $20/hour

The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Hawaii is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The afterschool hours have become a critical time for youth - a time when many children in our communities are left to fend for themselves without positive adult supervision. Overview of the role
Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii, a youth service non-profit organization, is looking for a Part TimeHuman Resources Assistant in their downtown administrative office location. This position will support the Human Resource Director in the day-to-day recruiting and HR transactional functions.
Who you are

  • On your resume.
    • Enrolled in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent post-secondary program.
    • Demonstrated leadership or active participation and commitment to a student organization, volunteer program, etc.
    • Strong experience and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Can provide at least 2 excellent work references and one personal reference
  • You have in-depth knowledge of strategies.
  • Self-Starter. You can work independently with limited supervision. You
  • You are passionate about HR and are looking for a professional development opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field.
  • You exhibit excellent interpersonal skills (especially over the phone) such as friendliness, patience, and helpfulness at all times.

  • You aren't afraid to meet new people and connect with people and organizations you may not know.
  • Teachable/Curious. You are eager to learn, which is great because YOU WILL LEARN A TON!!!!
  • You bring positive energy to the office and understand that there is a balance between work tasks and having a good time.

What you'll do
  • Transactional Duties:
    • Primarily assist the Human Resource Director with all recruitment functions for the organization including:
      • Review and update all open job postings and job descriptions to be posted.
      • Research job posting sites and available resources to post vacant positions.
      • Post, monitor, and update open positions for applicants on Bamboo HR, the applicant tracking database and other recruitment sites.
      • Screen incoming resumes and schedule interviews.
      • Conduct phone/virtual interviews with applicants and coordinate 2nd interviews with hiring managers.
      • Complete employment and reference verifications.
      • Assist with onboarding potential employees with the contingent offer based on passing the pre-employment process to complete (drug testing, background check, child safety prevention training, and onboarding new hire packet paperwork) and communicate with hiring managers on the status of the new hire.
      • Follow up with hiring managers on new hire paperwork on the first day of employment to collect such as documents for I-9 forms, voided check, etc.
    • Assist in reconciling monthly employee benefit insurance billing before sending for payment.
    • Review incoming volunteer applications and follow through with the onboarding process of tracking safety training and conducting background checks.
    • Rescreen employee/volunteer background checks annually. Update master volunteer/ board member spreadsheets.
    • Assist with monthly HR Dashboard and headcount reporting.
    • Send out monthly employee birthday and anniversary gift cards.
    • Maintain I-9, drug testing, and termination binders to ensure employees are properly on/off boarded.
    • Assist the Human Resources Director with transactional duties related to different as of HR operations.
    • All other duties and responsibilities, as assigned
