Job description

Position Summary: Support the US-based human resources activities of an international customer experience and market research firm, to include recruiting, hiring, onboarding, offboarding, benefits management, and payroll taxes. The US Division of BARE International employs approximately 100 FTE’s.


NOTE: This position is part-time (approximately 25 hours per week) and can be fully remote, if desired.


Essential Duties:

  • Identify and implement best practices for recruiting new employees that fit BARE’s values of passion, innovation, and integrity.
  • Assist with the hiring process, including pre-screening candidates, conducting interviews, and developing interview guidelines, questions, and scoring matrices for myriad positions.
  • Onboard new hires, including submitting necessary IT tickets, updating HRIS and payroll systems, checking I-9 documentation, conducting orientations, and registering employees in Virginia’s New Hire Reporting System.
  • Train hiring managers on consistent use of materials and appropriate interviewing techniques.
  • Conduct offboarding of termed employees, including submitting necessary IT tickets, updating HRIS and payroll systems, completing and processing necessary paperwork, and summarizing exit interview feedback.
  • Support benefits open enrollment each year, to include developing a communications plan, updating relevant documents, answering employees’ inquiries, and submitting necessary paperwork.
  • Research necessary payroll taxes for new states in which BARE hires; register for SUTA, withholding, and other applicable taxes in additional locations.
  • Track labor law updates for Employee Handbook and make changes in document as needed; Summarize modifications and educate staff on updates.
  • Research and report on technological and other solutions or vendors that may increase the HR department’s efficiency, compliance, and cost-savings.
  • Remain abreast of HR best practices in all disciplines; Continue to self-educate and explore new initiatives.
  • Participate in monthly global HR calls for international learnings and ideas.
  • Support the US General Manager and Company President with special projects as needed.
  • Support the HR team with other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum one year experience in an HR-related field, preferably within a mid-sized organization.
    • In lieu of a college degree, five years of relevant HR experience may be accepted.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Practical knowledge of federal and state employment, tax, and labor laws.
  • Experience with onboarding new hires and offboarding employees.
  • Working knowledge of HR Information Systems; experience using BambooHR a plus.
  • Demonstrated history of working with a diverse and remote-based employee population.
  • Experience with running payroll and/or reviewing payroll reports.
  • Experience with benefits management, preferably in a mid-sized company; knowledge of benefits-related laws and processes a plus.
  • Takes an action-oriented and results-focused approach to responsibilities and objectives.
  • Manages time and resources effectively and flourishes within a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excels in oral and written communications; presents information appropriately to a diverse population.
  • Asks for help and clarification when needed, accepts and implements feedback.
  • Demonstrates sound judgement and handles confidential or proprietary information discreetly.
  • Ability to work independently with little-to-no direct oversight.
  • Encourages colleagues to perform at their best; contributes to a positive team spirit.
