POSITION SUMMARY
RCD Lighting & Electrical is currently seeking a dedicated Outside Sales Representative/Account Manager to join our team! You will be responsible for acquiring new business, managing customer accounts, and building strong business relationships with new and established customers. This position is responsible for working as a member of the sales team to achieve the annual sales plan.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
SALES
- Effectively execute each stage of the sales process.
- Identify current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
- Develop and work on a prospects list. Continually add to the list through Internet research, industry, and competitor resources.
- Actively grow the pipeline using coordinated activities with commercial and marketing resources.
- Interact with customers and prospects on a consistent (70% to 75%) basis.
- Recognize the need and effectively utilize in-house technical experts to support the sale.
- Close new business to achieve the monthly sales plan.
- Advise customers on sales information including identifying, communicating value, and implementing performance gap solutions, as well as new products.
- Actively collaborates with customers to increase products, product lines, and sales.
- Complete the company Sales Summary report on a weekly basis and forward to the President.
- Meet or exceed monthly and annual sales goals established by executive management.
PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE
- Develop a comprehensive knowledge of all products and services in order to recognize quickly which can benefit each customer.
- Gain product knowledge through catalogs, sales literature, bulletins, sales meetings, continuing education, factory training, industry experiences, etc.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
- Manage key customer accounts as assigned. Accept and process orders, check on the status of orders, and handle service or product issues.
- Contact company personnel for assistance as needed to provide excellent customer service.
MARKETING
- Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, etc.
- Develop and maintain a highly respectable image of RCD Lighting in the eyes of customers, vendors, and competitors to become a trusted partner.
- Gather and organize all marketing collateral and other sales tools to support the sales process.
- Forward ideas for innovative marketing strategies and materials to management.
PROFESSIONAL ENGAGEMENT
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Attending industry conferences or networking opportunities as approved by the company.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Prior Outside Sales experience (Required)
- Proven relationship-building skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Team player/Collaborator willing to go the extra mile to ensure the success of the company and the team.
- Microsoft experience including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Understanding of product margins.
- Proven history of success in wholesale sales to aftermarket dealers.
- Must be comfortable cold calling.
- Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to see, speak, and hear.
- Ability to speak fluent English, appreciate multi-lingual skills.
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs.
