DMF Youth is a non-profit organization that provides free afterschool and summer camp programs to underserved students in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. Our programs blend dance education with life-skill development activities (think mindfulness, affirmations, leadership, teamwork) to provide students with the holistic support they need to live happy, healthy, lives. Through partnerships with Title 1 schools and homeless shelters, the programs we run provide necessary arts enrichment and education services, and ultimately work towards a more equitable education system.
Position Overview
The Part-Time Communications and Operations Manager will serve as the right-hand person to the Executive Director, providing essential support in the areas of operations, communications, fundraising, and administration for our small but impactful nonprofit organization. This role involves overseeing day-to-day operations, enhancing donor and funder communications, supporting fundraising events, conducting research for potential funding opportunities, and creating systems to keep the Executive Director on track.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operations Management:
- Collaborate closely with the Executive Director and Program Manager to create, implement, and maximize efficient organizational systems.
- Assist in the development and enhancement of operational policies and procedures.
- Manage administrative tasks, ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day operations.
- Keep all organizational records, including program statistics, digital archives, and donor relationship records, organized in Google Drive and Salesforce.
- Oversee and ensure the nonprofit stays up-to-date with all HR and employee requirements.
- Manage employee documentation, including but not limited to fingerprinting with DOE and obtaining CPR certification.
2. Communications:
- Systemize and enhance communication strategies with donors, funders, and program partners
- Draft compelling and impactful communications to maintain engagement with stakeholders.
- Ensure timely and personalized acknowledgments of donations and contributions.
- Assist with social media and digital email marketing to stakeholders
3. Fundraising Events:
- Provide support in planning and executing fundraising events, including logistics, promotion, and follow-up.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to explore new fundraising opportunities and initiatives.
4. Research and Grant Writing:
- Conduct research to identify potential donors, sponsors, and grant opportunities.
- Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and reports.
- Stay informed about industry trends, funding opportunities, and best practices in nonprofit management.
5. Systems Creation and Support:
- Develop and implement systems to keep the Executive Director on track with tasks and deadlines.
- Support the ongoing integration of Salesforce and other relevant platforms.
- Assist with various ad-hoc tasks and projects to ensure the smooth functioning of the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in communications, business, nonprofit management, or related field.
- Proven experience in nonprofit operations, communications, or a related role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor management software.
- Proficiency in email marketing software
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team environment.
- Eagerness to contribute new ideas that will help the organization grow.

Additional information
This is a 15-20 hour-per-week part-time position. The starting rate is between $23-25/hour based on experience. This job will be remote indefinitely, however strongly prefer NYC or Tri-state candidate who can come in occasionally to assist with in-person events, tasks, etc.
