EAG is currently seeking a CPA with prior public company Controller experience within the Upstream Oil & Gas industry to join our Business Process Outsourcing team. Experience managing large teams and completing complex industry-specific accounting calculations is critical for this role.
EXPECTATIONS:
The person in this role is expected to demonstrate daily subject matter expertise in public oil and gas accounting from generating accurate financial statements to managing operational accounting team members to addressing complex accounting scenarios such as depletion calculations and A&D settlement calculations.
We are looking for self-starters with strong managerial, accounting, time management, written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization. EAG is a team-oriented organization, and all members of the EAG team are expected to actively participate in our team environment, communicate with our clients in a professional and service-oriented manner and identify process improvement and optimization opportunities. As EAG continues to grow, members must be able to handle changing priorities, new challenges, and multi-tasking.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain CPA certification.
- Execute complex accounting transactions and calculations that are beyond the experience of Financial Analysts.
- Train team members to assist in complex accounting calculations and transactions.
- Manage operational and financial accounting team members.
- Ensure team members are generating accurate and timely results.
- Develop and maintain client close calendars.
- Lead month-end accounting close processes.
- Prepare and/or review client monthly financial statements.
- Review staff general ledger entries.
- Perform analysis of financial data.
- Research GAAP standards for client scenarios.
- Provide support and analysis as needed.
- Support accounting staff as a subject matter expert.
- Assist in annual audit and tax inquiries and data support for clients.
- Assist with acquisition and divestiture journal entry creation and support.
- Ensure account reconciliations are completed timely and accurately.
- Ensure SOC controls are adhered to.
POSITION, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field of study is required.
- Active CPA certification required.
- 10+ years of operational Oil and Gas Accounting experience with publicly traded upstream companies.
- Accounting team management experience.
- General Ledger Accounting expertise.
- Reconciliations & Reconciliation Review experience.
- Financial Statement Preparation.
- Experience working with one of more of the following technologies:
- Enertia
- P2 Bolo
- P2 Excalibur
- Quorum OnDemand Accounting (formerly OGSys)
- Quorum Enterprise
- SAP
- W Energy
- Experience working with PowerBI or PowerPivot preferred.
- Enjoys working with teams and training team members on accounting processes and transactions.
- Aptitude to learn new technology, products, and concepts.
- Expert in Excel.
- Strong in all major Microsoft Office product (Word, Power Point, Excel) and Microsoft Visio or Lucid Charts.
