GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Office & Volunteer Coordinator is a full-time position that reports to the Manager - Zoo Development. This position is an ambassador for Abilene Zoo and performs internal and external customer service, maintains a smoothly running office, and coordinates the robust volunteer program. This position works in conjunction with the Zoo Development Team to advance Abilene Zoo’s mission.

IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Provide excellent customer service.
Manage office supply room and ordering.
Maintain employee uniform stock, ordering and dispersal.
Facilitate monthly Abilene Zoological Society board meetings and quarterly All-Staff meetings.
Recruit and coordinate a robust volunteer base to meet the needs of each Zoo department.
Coordinate volunteers during special events.
Manage the volunteer database.
Operate City vehicles including golf carts throughout the Zoo.

Experience and Training Guidelines:
For positions with more than one level, all listed requirements at the lower levels are required at the higher levels. Any combination equivalent to experience and training to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be qualifying. Knowledge, skills, and abilities may be obtained through:
Experience:
Two (2) years of administrative experience is preferred.
Two (2) years of customer service experience is preferred.
One (1) year of Volunteer Coordinator experience is preferred.
Experience with database software is preferred.
Education/Training:
A high school diploma or GED is required.
License or Certificate:
A valid current Texas driver’s license; the ability to obtain one within ninety (90) days of employment, or a military waiver is required.
Special Requirements:
Ability to work in a standard office environment.
Ability to work outdoors in extreme heat or cold.
Ability to work a non-standard/flexible schedule based on the zoo’s needs, which may occasionally include weekends, some evenings, and holidays.
