The Volunteer Coordinator is a part-time position that is responsible for management of a volunteer program, including recruitment, scheduling, recognition and retention of volunteers who work to promote independence, improve the quality of life and maintain dignity of older adults.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ability to identify potential volunteers; train them regarding the grant
- Train volunteers with the resources and methodology to accomplish the communication with the older adults
- Develop a plan to provide contact with older persons by means of telephone calls; texting; skyping; video chatting; social media and other alternatives to establish the communication or contact with the older adults
- Assure older adults receive community resources including participation in the senior activity centers by the WCF as means to socially connect with other older adults and enhance their wellness
- Set monthly goals for this project and have the capacity to achieve those goals
- Assist in developing a process to ensure timely follow up and accurate reporting practices
- Local and out-of-town travel may be required

Required Qualifications:
- High school graduate, GED or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in social services, non-profit programs, or grass roots organization
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) language proficiency
Physical & Mental Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
- Ability to push or pull heavy objects using up to 10 pounds of force
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to use fine motor skills to operate office equipment and/or machinery
- Ability to receive and comprehend instructions verbally and/or in writing
- Ability to use logical reasoning for simple and complex problem solving
