Network Administrator

The Network Administrator's role is to ensure the stable operation of VS network. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. The person will also analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end user training where required. After the successful completion of training, this position offers the opportunity for a hybrid work model, although the candidate must be within commuting range of Charlotte, NC.

Responsibilities:

• Perform network design and capacity planning.
• Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
• Install and maintain network servers and network operating systems.
• Provide support to users concerning network system operations.
• Diagnose problems with network equipment and perform equipment repairs or upgrades when appropriate.
• Develop functional data recovery systems and techniques.
• Schedule and monitor backup of network data. Periodically restore files, applications, and the entire system on other network hardware to test backup facilities.
• Install, configure, and maintain network cabling and other networking equipment such as hubs, switches, and UPS.
• Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network connected end-user hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
• Install, configure, and maintain IPS/IDS, Firewall, Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam, Anti-Malware, etc. for maximum internal network protection.
• In conjunction with InfoSec, establish and enforce policies, procedures, and standards regarding LAN, WAN, security, and use of the organization's computer and information assets.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum Associate degree in computer science or related field (Bachelor’s Degree preferred)
• Experience using LANDESK
• Network VLAN configuration
• Operational knowledge of Azure Virtual Networking.
• Knowledge of Server Virtualization (VMWare).
• Operational knowledge of network and routing protocols.
• Operational knowledge of Windows Server and Azure Active Directory.
• Operational knowledge of HP switch configuration and VLAN programming.
• Intermediate PowerShell experience.
• 2+ years of Microsoft Azure Virtual Networking Support experience.
• Ability to independently install software and hardware on networking equipment and microcomputers.
• Familiarity with a variety of networking and personal computer software
• Ability to troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance on servers, computers, and peripheral equipment.
• Ability to communicate information to end users, colleagues, and senior leadership in a clear and concise manner.
• Ability and desire to work as a member of a team and as a team of one.

Working Environment and Physical Demands:

• Setup or maintenance of some peripheral equipment may require work in areas such as data rooms or wiring closets with restricted room for movement.
• Must be able to lift 35 pounds and use basic hand tools regularly and lift/move up to 60 pounds occasionally.
• Must be able to sit/stand at a desk and utilize a computer for extended periods of time.
