Title: Grants Administrator

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Department: Research

Primary Worksite: 6 West Colony Place, Durham, NC (on-site, no remote work option)

Reports to: Research Director

Start: asap

Salary: $50,000

Pre-Requisites:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., research administration, project management)

Occupational Summary:

The DAN Research Department leads several in-house studies and oversees interdisciplinary projects at collaborating universities and research institutions.

DAN is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to serve as a Grant Administrator in our research department. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing research grants in-house and funding from extramural sources, coordinating project planning, liaising with the IT, marketing, communications, and finance departments, assisting with internship coordination, overseeing IRB compliance, creating content, and maintaining our departmental website. The candidate will develop and maintain SOPs for each of the initiatives mentioned above.

This role requires strong organizational abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capability to work independently and as part of a team.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Grants Management:

· Manage grant application processes (incoming and outgoing) from start to finish.

· Assist in creating and maintaining relationships with granting institutions.

· Ensure that grant proposals meet the requirements and regulations of granting institutions.

· Complete and submit grant applications and progress reports within set deadlines.

· Provide budget guidance on grant proposals.

· Collaborate with the finance department to monitor grant/project expenditures.

· Track and report on progress of grant projects to stakeholders.

· Assist in identifying and pursuing new grant opportunities.

· Act as a liaison between internal teams and grant-related stakeholders.

· Streamline and maintain the DAN Research Grant Program application process.

· Provide guidance for grant applicants and communicate with grant awardees.

IRB Management:

· Assist with the IRB submission and approval process for research projects.·

Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines and regulations.

Other responsibilities within the department:

· Update department website with news, publications, and research highlights.

· Ensure website functionality and design are up to date.

· Assist with administration of the DAN Intern- and Fellowships.

· Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Requirements:

· Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., research administration, project management).

· Experience in grant management, project coordination, or a related field.

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Communicate effectively with medical professionals, administrative personnel, collaborators, contractors, and volunteers.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

· Familiarity with research administration and IRB processes.

Preferred Qualifications (would be nice to have):

· Basic web management skills.

· Interest in diving.

· Familiarity with human subject research.

· Scientific writing, including peer-reviewed publication, data reporting, and grant writing.
