Job description

Summary
This position will support the Operations Manager for the designated location. Operations manager will have ultimate responsibility for the performance, financially and operationally. This position will support the Operations Manager in many of the day-to-day tasks that will roll up to the success of the overall operation.
Essential Functions
  • Operations Management - Assist in Managing NDT operations for assigned location in accordance with applicable codes, standards, equipment utilization, specifications, and procedures.
  • Respond to incoming calls from clients necessary to prepare work schedules and assign personnel and equipment resources through Field FX.
  • Oversee equipment calibration and shop maintenance.
  • Maintain sufficient supplies and equipment to support operations and specific projects.
  • Maintain equipment inventory, calibration, and purchasing documentation and record storage with local administrative resources
  • Monitor suppliers for quality and cost of provided goods or services.
  • Interview and hire new team members as needed to support growth.
  • Visit job sites to provide support and consultation as needed.
  • Oversee projects to ensure timely completion and the meeting of deadlines.
  • Safety - Work with PROtect EH&S representatives and local ARSO to reinforce PROtect's commitment to safety.
  • Monitor and enforce PROtect safety standards and policies in the work environment.
  • Ensure staff have proper safety equipment and supplies on hand.
  • Facilitate client specific training and lead internal safety meetings.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of applicable safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that staff respond to random drug screens following required protocols.
  • Coordinate with HR and EH&S personnel as necessary to monitor annual drug and alcohol testing dates; ensure that employees are current for client access.
  • Assist EH&S Managers with incident investigations and reporting to ensure timely processing and corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Assist EH&S Managers to ensure that all employees receive and maintain required training.
  • Leadership - Model excellent customer service, work ethic, professional attire and conduct, safety focus, and positive attitude for your team. Effectively communicate expectations to employees and provide meaningful and timely feedback on their performance. Meet with employees individually to determine their individual professional development goals. Serve as a mentor to technicians and assistants to aid in developing further certification and advancement opportunities for employees. Provide opportunities for employees to acquire new skills and certifications.
  • Teamwork - Foster strong team culture. Support and utilize resources from other PROtect locations with manpower and equipment when possible.
  • Documentation - Review and field tickets, invoices, time records, and expense reports prior to submission to accounting for processing. Review inspection reports and follow up with technicians for corrections/updates as needed.

Other Functions
  • Assist with preparation of project bids, including development of scope of work, and estimating project needs
  • Communicate reciprocity needs to the local Assistant RSO and Corporate RSO to submit to the applicable regulatory agency.

Requirements
Education / Certification
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Associates degree in NDT is preferred
  • Minimum 40-hours of Radiation Safety training required
  • Must possess a current IRRSP or State card
  • Current Level II in one major method (UT / RT) and one minor method (MT, PT, UT-T) for at least 2 years. Prefer Level II certification in multiple NDT methods.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Insurability through PROtect, LLC insurance carrier

Work Experience
  • Must be capable of passing the PROtect, LLC. in house Trustworthy & Reliable investigation.
  • Must have a good knowledge PROtect NDT operating procedures, including QCP's, Certification, On-boarding and Safety Training.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Able to Work a Demanding and Flexible Schedule - Strong work ethic required. On call 24 hours a day by phone to respond to call-out opportunities and emergencies.
  • Physical Demands - Able to occasionally lift and carry objects up to 75 pounds on loose, rough or uneven terrain. Able to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 150 pounds with assistance. Climbing and working at heights, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, standing for long periods, walking, pushing, pulling, repetitive motion, working in confined spaces, working in extreme cold and heat, visual acuity, working near hazards including moving mechanical parts, working near electrical components and exposures to chemicals.
  • NDT Methods - Expertise in multiple NDT methods and willingness to engage in ongoing learning and application of skills. Able to interpret and communicate code and specification requirements.
  • Manufacturing Processes - Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and discontinuities (including welding and welding discontinuities
  • Mechanical - Intermediate mechanical knowledge. Able to set up and calibrate equipment, to conduct tests, and to interpret, evaluate, and document results.
  • Safety - Knowledge of, and willingness to follow and lead others to follow applicable safety regulations, policies and procedures. Apply these safety standards in the work environment and look out for other crew members.
  • Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking appropriate questions.
  • Professional Appearance and Conduct - Dress appropriately for the assignment and maintain good hygiene.
  • Customer Service - Interact professionally with customers and employees. Punctual arrival to assignments.
  • Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine or process is working properly.
  • Organizational Skills - Detail orientated. Able to organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions. Able to prioritize tasks, plan and allocate time appropriately.
  • Communication - Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate information so that others will understand. May need to be able to explain things different ways to get students to understand. Demonstrated experience in providing guidance, assistance, and expertise to others in the form of training, coaching, and facilitating the audit process
  • Active Learning - Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making. Desire to continue professional development through learning new advancements in NDT technology and methods
  • Software - Ability to learn and utilize technology including NDT application specific software and Microsoft Office programs
  • Critical Thinking - Use logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Accountability - High level of personal accountability. Ability to work independently of others and be self-directive and goal oriented
  • Judgement - Ability to discern right from wrong or tell when something is likely to go wrong. Unbiased approach to candidate. Ability to identify shortcomings of candidates and explain/identify areas needed for improvement to candidate and their supervisor.
  • Vision - The ability to see details at close range (within 20 inches). Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more. Ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to right or to left while eyes are fixed on a given point.
  • Teamwork - Able to work effectively as part of a team and to provide instruction to others effectively and professionally.
  • Travel - Able to travel 25% of the time. (Up to a week or more at a time)
