The Medical Receptionist is primarily responsible for performing reception, clerical, registration and medical record duties and functioning as the focal communication source for Imaging under the supervision of the Manager. Works cooperatively with ancillary, nursing, medical and other patient-team personnel to maintain standards for professional ambulatory patient care delivery.
Duties:
- Correctly schedule patients by utilizing the computer generated data prompts.
- Cross trained to pre-register, register and, log in and log out patients.
- Conduct residency and insurance screens on patients and advises the patient as to the assigned care source (i.e., their PCP, etc.) so that the appropriate referral can be made.
- Correctly enter and appropriately update patient information via computer profiles.
- Communicate with third party reimbursement agents to verify eligibility.
- Complete referral form on a daily basis and ensures clinical information for specialty appointment s is received prior to patient arrival.

- Overbook provider schedules per provider request in a manner that minimizes patient wait times.
- Manage physician's schedule so that there are an appropriate number of patients given within the allotted clinic time.
- Correctly attach required medical record forms to medical records of new patients.
- Accurately and efficiently process physicians' orders when required.
- Correctly enter/schedule special tests, labs, x-rays, etc. via computer and/or designated process; document appropriately when required.
- Correctly process referrals and return appointments when required.

Education:
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and have successfully completed a unit secretary training program from an approved hospital or vocational school.
Experience:
One year of experience in healthcare/medical – Medical Secretary is preferred.
