Location: 55 S. RAYMOND-Suite 200, ALHAMBRA, CA

Schedule: PART TIME – Flexible schedule within normal business hours (M-F 8AM-5PM)

Primary Responsibilities:

• Responsible for greeting arriving patients, collecting payments and monitoring lobby area for patients or visitors who may need assistance
• Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that demonstrate Optum’s commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care and concern with each and every internal and external customer
• Verifies walk-in patient’s name, demographics, insurance and primary care provider
• Performs general office duties (e.g., phones, light typing, computer entry, scheduling, etc
• Interacts with Support Center regarding insurance eligibility
• Ensures that patient correctly completes all appropriate forms
• Collects co-pays and payments for services as required
• Verifies patient account status
• Enters patient’s arrival status in IDX at time of arrival
• Handles cashiering of received payments and prepares proper receipts
• Monitors the lobby area for patients or visitors who may have medical difficulties. Assists and communicates with appropriate Care Team
• Directs patients to proper location to receive next level of care
• Ensures that patients are appropriately directed upon their arrival. Notifies Care Team of the patient’s status
• Receives deliveries of packages and mail and ensures they are routed to the proper recipients
• Maintains cognizance of arriving patients with potential emergencies and responds to situations appropriately according to policies and procedures
• Provides patients with reasonable support to personal needs (e.g., calling a cab, helping patient with logistics, etc.)
• Adheres to Universal Precautions and safety policies and procedures
• Uses, protects, and discloses Optum patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards
• Performs additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
• 1+ years of experience working in a customer service-based role
• Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

• Fully Bilingual in Mandarin or Cantonese – highly preferred
• 1+ years of experience working in a healthcare office setting

California Residents Only: The hourly range for California residents is $16.00 to $28.27 per hour. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
