Responsibilities:
- Greet and check-in patients, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries in a professional and courteous manner
- Schedule patient appointments and manage the appointment calendar
- Verify patient insurance information and collect co-pays or payments
- Maintain patient records and ensure accuracy of information
- Provide administrative support to medical staff as needed
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
- Collaborate with other medical receptionists to ensure smooth operations of the front desk
Skills:
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and professional demeanor
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage patient flow and scheduling
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures for effective communication with patients and medical staff
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems, such as Epic, for accurate documentation and record keeping
- Experience in a medical or healthcare setting, preferably in a receptionist or administrative role
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality
- Ability to handle stressful situations with calmness and professionalism, especially in emergency room (ER) settings
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in patient information and scheduling
