Job Description
Home Care Powered by AUAF is a driven, people focused working environment scouting for a candidate who is detailed-oriented with exceptional math skills and great customer service. The Billing Specialist oversees invoices from clients and processes any outstanding balances to ensure each account is paid on time and in full. The specific role of Billing Specialist includes having knowledge of the Illinois Department on Aging (IDoA), IDPH and Managed Care Organization (MCO). We are looking for a candidate with prior experience working with insurance companies.
General Summary:
The Billing Specialist is responsible for billing and accounts receivable tasks. Duties and responsibilities include demographic entry, ICD-10, charge entry, receipt posting, and accounts receivable.
Objectives of this Role
- Reports to the Billing Manager
- Knowledge with CMS 1500 Billing Forms, electronic billing, EOBs, claims
- Experience working with all types of insurance- Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.
- Ability to read and understand the information provided on EOB’s, remittance advices, and other insurance correspondence
- Minimum of 2 or more years of healthcare-related experience in billing and collections
- Knowledge of ICD-10 billing
- Ability to work in a group and independently with little supervision
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook
- Highly organized, detail-oriented individual who has the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
- The Billing Specialist is responsible for medical coding, billing, and accounts receivable tasks
- Duties and responsibilities include demographic entry, ICD-10, charge entry, receipt posting, and accounts receivable
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) from accredited program recommended
- Insurance eligibility and benefit verification
- Reconcile claims/accounts to complete resolution
- Payment posting from both insurance and patient
- Accounts receivable/follow up
- Monitor assigned accounts to ensure maximization of collection dollars
- Meets or exceeds key performance indicators measuring productivity, quality, and service level as defined by Management
- Actively participates in team initiatives and in team status meetings
- Client agreements, authorizations, & verifying eligibility
Qualifications
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail
- Proficient with word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, and basic computer applications
- Exceptional math skills
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- College Degree Preferred
- Preferred 1 year of billing
- Bilingual Preferred

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
