Job Description:
As a Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for designing products and tooling used everyday on the production floor in the service of EV batteries. These products range anywhere from fixtures and lifting devices, to thermo-fluid systems and leak detection, and electromechanical devices and automation.

You will work in a fast-paced environment where these batteries are repaired, refurbished and repurposed.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Punctual and Dependable attendance.
  • Utilize CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of workstations and tooling.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and specifications.
  • Work closely with prototyping and manufacturing teams to bring designs from concept to reality.
  • Provide technical support during the prototype development phase, addressing any design challenges that may arise.
  • Continuously evaluate and optimize existing workstations and tooling designs for improved functionality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and simulations to ensure designs meet performance criteria.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineers to ensure seamless integration of components into overall system designs.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with project timelines and goals.
  • Create comprehensive design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and design analysis reports.
  • Ensure that all designs comply with industry standards and regulations.
  • Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

  • Ability to pass and maintain a clear background and negative drug test.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field from an accredited university
  • Experience/ Certification with CAD software strongly preferred (Solidworks, etc)
  • All individuals who work on the production floor will be required to have and wear steel toe or composite work boots every day starting on their first day. PPE such as vests, shirts, gloves and basic safety glasses will be provided and must be worn at all times.

Physical Requirements:
This is a physical position and requires the following:
  • Individual lifting up to 40 pounds.
  • Constant sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, stooping, lifting.
  • Good hand and finger dexterity.
  • Good hand and eye coordination.
  • Requires physical ability and mental acuity to execute the duties of the position successfully within required timeframes to meet business requirements under safety guidelines.

Work Environment:
  • Parts of this position may be performed in a warehouse/production environment which may or may not be temperature controlled.
  • May be exposed to dust and fumes on a regular basis.
  • May have to be outside some of the time to perform the full lifecycle of the position requirements.
