JOB SUMMARY:
Develop and lead a team of dynamic planners in the strategic planning of raw material, assemblies, and outside processes to support a high mix low volume manufacturing organization. Will also lead all warehouse operations in the tactical movement materials for the fabrication shop as well as the assembly value streams in several locations. Will lead the data collection and presentation of key metrics and KPI's that support the organizations goals and objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACTIVITIES:
•Leads a dynamic group of Planners, Expeditors, and Warehouse Team
•Develop, implement, and manage cross functional, fully integrated material planning process that incorporates planning, scheduling, inventory, material and forecasting in support of a highly functioning, multi-value stream manufacturing facilities.
•In partnership with corporate sourcing teams, negotiate with vendors for best quality, delivery, and cost with focus on quality and delivery metrics through deployment of supplier scorecards to achieve best in class performance.
•Lead and manage the logistics of inbound and interplant transfers in accordance with our EHS requirements and meeting the financial expectations of the organization.
•Oversees the inventory available and generates monthly inventory report to be presented to leadership.
•Identifies root cause and action plans for material variances through collaboration with Inventory Team and drives cross-functional change for improvement.
•Proactively identifies the emergency requirements of the materials to mitigate production shortages through escalating with internal and external stakeholders.
•Participates in or leads meetings, as necessary, with accounting and finance departments to report details of materials costs, variances, shortages etc. then create action plans for correction.
•Provides or establishes documented training programs, processes and procedures for team members in need of improved skill sets to create best in class team.
•Maintains on-going relationships with the contractors, vendors, and internal/external stakeholders.
•Provide strategic deployment plans in alignment with organizational goals and objectives to senior executives and directors of the company.
•Supports and participates in Morgan Olson's PPS team efforts.
•Adheres to Quality policy by exceeding customer expectations, being customer focused and supporting continuous improvement activities.
•Adheres to Safety policies and practices behavioral based safety 100% of the time.
•Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelor Degree in Business Administration with specialization in Logistics, Material Management or Supply Chain Management. Or related field plus 5-7 years minimum materials management
•Should have good negotiating skills and verbal and written communication skills
•Skillful in planning and analyzing the requirements of the production department
•Ability to design specifications for the raw materials to be ordered
•Skilled at researching the market, looking for potential suppliers and designing quotations for the purchase order
•Well-versed with the traditional as well as advanced methods used in inventory control
•Excellent computer skills
