Job description

SUMMARY:
Materials Manager leads a team of Material Supervisors and Buyers that purchase quality products and services for the company at the lowest prices. Duties include purchasing and ordering fasteners products, forecasting demand levels, managing inventory levels and supply constraints, building relationships with suppliers, generating reports, and making sure business objectives are delivered. Successful candidates demonstrate leadership, procurement expertise, communication and negotiation skills, networking, computer proficiency, and analytical thinking. A bachelor's degree in procurement or supply chain management is preferred for a Materials Manager
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Develops and implements supply ordering for the company.
  • Lead, Coach and Develop the Purchasing Team
  • Deliver annual inventory target to Improve company's cash flow
  • Enforce and manage supply contracts
  • Spearhead the purchase order process for conformance to company policy
  • Deal with supplier when serious variations arise in delivery, quality, and price
  • Collaborate with other departments of the company in establishing and carrying out responsibilities
  • Leads in strategic planning process
  • Leads in the continuous improvement process
  • Ensure that duties, responsibilities, authority and accountability of all direct team members are defined and understood.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES:
  • Experience with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel & Word
  • Experience with Epicor IT System
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy while meeting deadlines
  • Must be self-directed and possess a high level of personal organization and drive
  • Possess excellent communication skills including verbal, written and interpersonal
  • Interact well with employees at all levels within the organization and be able to build and maintain positive working relationships
  • Willingness and ability to be flexible and adapt to changing job requirements
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports.
  • Customer focused attitude; desire to grow with and contribute to a customer focused organization
  • Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Posses business appropriate ethics and values

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • 5+ years of experience in purchasing and inventory control management.
  • Manufacturing and fastener experience preferred
