The Manager of Youth Leadership & Workforce Development works with the Citywide Director of Youth Leadership & Workforce Development to ensure all BGCSF members are provided with rigorous programming and activities that focus on two areas of our Formula for Impact: Good Character and Community Engagement and Job Readiness with Earning Potential. This manager provides coaching, training, and technical assistance to program staff across departments to integrate job readiness, Youth Leadership, good character, and community service strategies and opportunities for both middle school and high school BGCSF members. They will be supervised by the Citywide Director of Youth Leadership and Workforce Development and contribute as a member of the Program Services department.

The Manager of Youth Leadership & Workforce Development must have strong project management skills, the ability to communicate between diverse groups of stakeholders, be detail-oriented, and be able to work ~6-8 weekends per year based on an annual calendar of events. As a position that works directly with youth at times, this position requires the flexibility to work evenings ~2 times per week during peak program hours.


Program Management – 55%

  • Convene monthly Citywide meetings for Middle School Services staff and High School Services staff.
  • Support the onboarding process for Middle School Services staff and High School Services staff and ensure they receive training in facilitating all program requirements.
  • Develop and provide resources (partnership recommendations, program plans, activity lessons, etc.) for Middle School Services staff and High School Services staff
  • Provide on-site Club support two (2) times weekly minimum.
  • Manage Service Learning projects across Clubs and track community service hours completed Citywide.
  • Support the running of Club leadership programs (Torch Club, Keystone and youth advisory boards) and ensure programs are chartered through BGCA.
  • Track and review data surrounding Youth Leadership and Workforce Development programs such as the Teen Employment Tracker, youth portfolios,

Program Facilitation – 25%

  • Support with the annual Youth of the Year program from October to February.
  • Support with annual Citywide events such as Citywide Career Fair, MS/HS College Tours, CA Days of Advocacy, Reality Store, Torch Club/Keystone Retreats, and BGCSF Gala.
  • Facilitate Career Exposure Events for middle school and high school youth across all Clubs.

Administrative Support – 20%

  • Develop and manage department budgets.
  • Provide program reports on all programs as required by stakeholders and outlined through grant deliverables.
  • Develop and present information regarding program impact and deliverables to internal and external stakeholders as needed.
  • Manage all resources provided through the program budget and partnerships.
  • Provide support to the Department Director with strategies to execute the Department's chart of work.
  • At all times maintain a professional appearance and manner reflective of the high standards of BGCSF.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • BA/BS from an accredited college or university or related work experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor staff directly and indirectly.
  • Experience providing training, onboarding, and technical assistance.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Youth Leadership or Workforce Development field.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate Youth Leadership and Workforce Development programs.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.

SKILLS/ KNOWLEDGE PREFERRED:

  • Experience working with a Boys & Girls Club or similar youth development organization in a program function responsible for administrative duties.
  • Experience working in collaboration with community-based organizations.
  • Comfortable operating a motor vehicle while transporting youth.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination upon employment.
  • Must be able to lift 15 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for at least 1 hour consecutively.
  • Must be able to sit at a computer workstation for long periods of time.

Pay

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and BGCSF needs. At BGCSF, our decisions are based on other factors and dependent on circumstances for each position. Depending on the need and requirement of the position, an individual could be hired at or near the entry-level, mid-level or top of the range for their role and compensation. As such, a reasonable estimate of the current range is $70,000 - $75,000 annually.
