Global Treasury Controllership (GTC) is responsible for providing comprehensive transaction Advisory, Valuation, Accounting & Reporting for various Treasury related areas such as cash, debt, derivatives, investments,
intercompany loans, fair value, and other comprehensive income. The Middle Office Debt and AFS Investment team is a key component of GTC and is responsible for providing Trade Advisory and Servicing, Accounting, and Analytics for various Treasury related products. The primary goal of the Middle Office Debt and Investment team is to lead and support various enterprise-wide efforts to all Global Treasury teams and provide value added services.This New York based manager role will manage the Middle Office Debt and Investment team within GTC, which is responsible for trade capture, confirmation, settlement tracking, and accounting & reporting of Treasury related transactions. This role will specifically focus on Available for Sale Investments but will also serve as back up support for the Funding desk. The team also plays an integral role in supporting numerous enterprise-wide
efforts related to accounting changes, assessing and implementing regulatory guidelines and instructions, systems implementations, and process improvements to support Treasury transactions.Be a team leader, a business partner, and a champion of our values.
This position will be responsible for the following:
- Lead a team of analysts in charge of daily and monthly Trade transaction support, advisory and accounting functions for investment (and occasionally, debt), in terms of trade capture, servicing the trade, and reporting.
- Build and manage strong, effective relationships with Treasury & Controllership Partners and external counterparties.
- Independently execute tasks on multiple projects based on defined project plans and requirements.
- Review daily and monthly transaction accounting for accuracy and completeness
- Maintain TMS’ static data and manage product testing and system configuration
- Liaise with various project team members to drive projects to successful completion.
- Contribute to Key Performance and Risk Issue metrics.
- Deliver ad-hoc reporting requests to our business partners.
- Adhere to organizational Operational Risk governance by proactively identifying and mitigating operational risks.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- CPA or equivalent certification a plus
- Financial Markets acumen and knowledge of Capital Markets and Treasury Operations and Products
- Experience in investments, debt, and derivative accounting
- Focus on delivery and impact proven track record in delivering results and achieving goals.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills.
- Bloomberg experience a plus
- Prior experience with Front Office and General Ledger systems.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with ability to multi-task and prioritize independently.
- Positive attitude: willingness to learn and think outside of the box.
- Flexibility to deal with change in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills
- Detail oriented and strong analytical skills
Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
