DETAILS: This is a full/part time non/exempt position, expected to work 40 hours a week. This position is paid $26-30 hourly.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Troubleshoot, maintain and perform basic repairs for HVAC and mechanical systems.
- Perform basic residential plumbing repairs.
- Residential drain cleaning/snaking.
- Appliance repair. (refrigerators, stoves)
- Perform basic carpentry repairs on laminate/carpet floors, doors, windows and locks.
- Wall repair and painting.
- Perform basic residential electrical repairs under the direction of the Master Electrician.
- Develop, maintain and document preventative maintenance programs and procedures to minimally impact MCAD operations.
- Along with the rest of the maintenance staff work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor with cost estimating to support requests for plumbing, mechanical and HVAC services regarding outside contractors.
- Submits purchase requisitions for supplies and materials.
- Coordinate and maintain inventory.
- Maybe asked to provide work direction to student help or other assigned personnel.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Available to work additional hours around key campus periods. Black out periods for time off may apply to these periods. Events include but are not limited to:
- Campus move in
- Move out dates
- Art sale
- Art auction
- Commencement
- Winter closure
- Available to work after hours and or weekends in emergency situations. Including but not limited to:
- Severe weather
- Snow removal
- Flooding, water damage
- Fire building damage
- Acts as a substitute for absence and time off for members within the Facilities department.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Represents MCAD's vision, purpose, and values in day to day work and interactions with MCAD students, staff, faculty, and campus guests, as well as the greater community.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position may supervise work study and casual laborers.
Requirements
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Special Boilers license preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
- 4 or more years of building and general maintenance required with 4 or more years operating and maintaining HVAC/mechanical/plumbing systems strongly preferred.
- Experience in a higher education environment is preferred.
- Strong mechanical problem solving and technical aptitude.
- Lift/Carry up to 50 pounds.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate across departments.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets.
