Maintenance Technician

Job Functions:
Job SummaryThis position conducts troubleshooting, repairs and provides preventative maintenance service. Job Functions (Essential)

1. Implement, coordinate, and maintain Preventative Maintenance (PM) improvements, schedules and projects on a daily or scheduled basis.
2. Execute job plans that include maintenance resources, materials, tools and equipment, methods, and coordination with contracted resources and other departments.
3. Troubleshoots, diagnose symptoms and effect repairs of manufacturing and facility equipment.
4. Install and maintain production machines and the plant facility's equipment.
5. Enter and maintain Computer Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) data, process maintenance work requests from plant personnel, and ensure the effective and efficient utilization of CMMS.
6. Use CMMS to research parts, prepare repair orders, resource plan, and manage the preventive and predictive maintenance scheduling of equipment.
7. Work with other operations staff to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives and insure availability of tools and materials.
8. Responsible for working knowledge of plant facilities and equipment.
9. Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
10. Create purchase requisitions and other instruments as needed to insure efficient execution of job plans.
11. Inform appropriate management and effected staff of potential mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved.
12. Ensure facility and property grounds are safe which includes snow removal from sidewalks.
13. Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
14. Work with the facility staff on Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) initiatives.
15. Required member of Hazwopper Team (support for handling clean up and disposal of hazardous waste).
16. Monitor Facilities Management System to ensure operating facility in efficient manner to support Carbon Footprint reduction initiative
17. Work with external suppliers in maintaining or fixing issues as arise (contact, receive quotes, schedule activities and validate completion of activity.
18. Take on sub-projects to make facilities more energy efficient by following tasks and supplier work timely
19. Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
20. Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Global Code of Conduct.
21. Perform special projects as required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to walk and stand; sit, use hands or fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, parts, or controls reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to balance and climb; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Position requires occasional working from heights.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The employee may also be exposed to any number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable.
Equipment:
General tools, power construction equipment, lift truck, scissors lifts and skid steer.

Qualifications:
Required:

1. High School Diploma/GED and 3 years experience in maintenance
2. Must have a valid driver's license.
3. Strong ability to interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, manuals, layouts, or other visual aids
4. Strong organizational, planning and follow-up skills.
5. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with other employees.
6. Good knowledge in welding, pipe fitting, lubrications, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, carpentry or use of tool room machines.
7. Good mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, carpentry, and repair of production machines.
8. Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills where problems are complex.
9. Fundamental knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and the ability to use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
10. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
11. Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite.

Preferred:

1. Previous experience in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance.
2. Associate's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Maintenance.
3. Knowledge of SAP's Plant Maintenance Module.
4. Good knowledge of CMMS software.
5. Ability to operate a skid steer, forklift, scissors lift and other similarly sized equipment.
6. Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
