SalarySummary: The Maintenance Controls Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and optimal performance of our manufacturing equipment and systems. This position involves a combination of technical expertise in control systems, electrical engineering, and maintenance practices within a food manufacturing environment.
- Additional $1.50 per hour shift differential for hours worked between 6 pm-6 am
- Must be flexible for overtime and weekend work
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Control Systems Management:
- Maintain control systems for various manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, and other automation components.
- Optimize control strategies to enhance equipment efficiency, reliability, and safety.
- Electrical Systems Maintenance:
- Conduct preventive maintenance tasks on electrical systems, including motors, drives, sensors, and other electrical components.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults to minimize downtime and ensure uninterrupted production.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to develop and execute maintenance schedules and procedures.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all relevant safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working environment.
- Perform regular safety inspections and participate in safety training programs.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to electrical and control systems.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation to improve productivity and reduce costs.
- Implement upgrades and modifications to existing control systems to enhance performance and reliability.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and troubleshooting efforts.
- Document control system configurations, wiring diagrams, and other technical documentation as needed.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:
Education/Certifications and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED, required.
- Technical or Associate Degree, Electrical Journeyman’s License, or certificate in related trades, preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field, is a plus.
- At least 1 year of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of control systems in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), HMI development, and SCADA systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, including motors, drives, and industrial sensors.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to electrical and control systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and learn new technologies as needed.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Work involves daily and frequent exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, odors, darkness and/or poor lighting, noise, and vibration. Seasonal exposure to weather elements to include, but not limited to, extreme temperatures, wetness, and humidity.
- Work environment involves daily exposure to physical risks and hazards, such as working around mechanical equipment, mechanical hazards, forklifts, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, fire and explosives hazards, communicable diseases.
- Position requires the ability to stand; walking around office, warehouse, and plant; lifting and carrying packages up to 50 pounds; utilizing fine dexterity; and reaching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting on a daily basis.
