Job Description
- Administers leaves of absence (LOAs), worker’s compensation (WC), and other disability benefit programs in coordination with third-party administrators and according to state leave guidelines. Effectively interprets FMLA/ADA/WC regulations, the coordination of benefits, and company policies related to these programs. Supports HR Business Partners with LOA/ADA/WC inquiries as requested.
- Coordinates daily benefits processing. Handles monthly enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, life insurance claims, and compliance testing. Coordinates with HR partners regarding benefit transitions for transfers/status changes. Ensures thorough documentation related to benefits processing is placed in a confidential location separate from the employee file.
- Prepares announcement materials, plan summary documents, and other media for communicating to employees.
- Audits benefits-related data. Ensures accuracy of benefits enrollment and premium deductions. Processes payroll adjustments and invoices when needed. o Assures compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and Affordable Care Act (ACA). Reviews and analyzes changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits and reports necessary or suggested changes to management. Prepares benefit-related reports and spreadsheets as requested for internal HR needs.
- System Migration – Collaborates with HR Business Partners and leadership as appropriate to align jobs with organizational job architecture guidelines. Develops and maintains job descriptions and their respective FLSA classification for each position in the organization; ensures descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by incumbents.
- Data Analysis and Reporting - Supports special projects, as needed, including creating reports, analyzing data, and providing summary information and recommendations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required.
- Professional certification preferred (i.e., CEBs, PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP).
- 4+ years of experience in benefits administration and HRIS systems required. Ceridian Dayforce and/or Workday preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, research methods and data analysis techniques. Ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality for sensitive personnel issues, sensitive strategic corporate information, and employee data.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with discretion, tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently. Demonstrates strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Highly analytical with the ability to conduct audits, perform detailed analysis of qualitative and quantitative data including skill in creating complex spreadsheets which require the use of complex formulas. Demonstrates skill in creating reports, evaluating personnel and financial data, summarizing key observations, and presenting options for consideration.
- Expert-level computer skills: HR Information System (i.e., Ceridian Dayforce, Workday) and Microsoft Office Suite. Advanced technical proficiencies include but are not limited to: report writing and Excel using quantitative analysis, charting, pivot tables, formulas/algorithms, and trend analysis.
- Demonstrates initiative and accountability with the ability to take primary ownership of assigned benefit programs and administration.
